    Bought a m1000r competition back July absolutely love it fitted a end can just so it pops and bangs find it a bit of a firmer ride than my old s1000r and it’s not overly comfortable but I didn’t buy it for touring. I can nearly get as much satisfaction sat looking at it it’s a good looking bike (I think so anyway) fitted a small screen to it today but storm babet as put paid to testing it to see if it directs a bit of the wind over my head. People complain about it been keyless but I have fitted a quarter turn fuel cap so I put the key in a zip pocket and forget it so I find it fine. Is it too powerful for what we need of course it is but so what it’s nice to know it’s there, is it expensive Yes! but if it’s what you want and can afford it and it makes you happy there’s the answer.

    I’m willing to buy it. Do you believe your bike gets too hot? What about vibration? I own a Ducati monster 937 and it get really hot really fast and vibrates a lot, so I don’t want to make the same “mistake” again

    First experience of keyless and after listening to others trash it I thought I wasn’t going to get on with it, how wrong I was, now I have fitted the quarter turn fuel cap I love it, I put the key in my jacket pocket zip it up before I leave the house and forget it, the bike is quite buzzy but no worse than the S1000 I owned and I wouldn’t say it runs over hot .

    BMW lost me when you mentioned the vibes. I test-rode an S1000RR probably ten years ago, and although I felt like an absolute king on it, I was: i. surprised by the bar vibes, and: ii. knackered because-of it. For me, if there's one reason to choose a 4-cylinder bike over a twin, it's to ride something that'll be smoother when you're just pootling along. I appreciate that it's essentially a racing engine here, but I'd have thought BM could have refined it by now given that most of their bikes with this engine will be ridden on the road. By the way, I'm not touring or doing any long distances, and I only tend to go riding for an hour-or-so, but still, I want to enjoy the experience and not feel apprehensive about even going out because the bike is too much hassle (like the 'snarling dog' Superduke R that I subsequently tried definitely was). I wonder how I'd find an R1250 R instead...?

  • @BikeLikeMike92

    @BikeLikeMike92

    1250r would probably suit you if you’re after that comfort with some punch. I don’t think the m is a snarling dog, I think it’s pretty good and easy when riding slow - it can be a real Cerberus though if you want it to be.

  • @soots-stayingoutofthespotl5495

    @@BikeLikeMike92 Thanks for the input. The only thing against the 1250R is that it's not exactly light and I'm quite small, but I am interested because I remember thinking about the S1000RR that things happened almost quicker than I could think. I shouldn't have mentioned the M/ S1000 in the same sentence as the old Superduke really (I knew within a minute that it was horrendous in terms of power delivery and just couldn't do slow or smooth), but you mentioning vibes on the M does surprise me. I say that because I seem to remember that the generation of S1000RR that I rode had some kind-of weird engine imbalance thing going-on, where numerous owners claimed that the bike would drift towards the left, and I'm here to try and find-out if an updated engine and chassis fixed all that. Ultimately, I'm probably getting too old for these 200bhp 4's if I'm honest, but I still like the idea for thrills!

    I'm riding a Tuono V4 Factioy from 2017 and looking for a new Power Naked. Recently I've teste a Streetfighter V4S and was disappointed from the torque in mid rev range and lower gears. How does the BMW compare in first gear at 30mph / 50km/h?

  • @BikeLikeMike92

    @BikeLikeMike92

    7 ай бұрын

    Well, you’re on a bike which already has a very strong mid range… and the V4s although more power I think makes similar torque to the Tuono. The BMW has less torque, but peaks up high. I found the M1000r plenty torquey but it’s mid is probably not far from your current bike. I found it mental up high… as you can probs tell 😂. The valve tech in the beemer is miles away from the s1000r. Best advice would be to try it too… see what you think. You can’t really go wrong if they are the two bikes you’re looking at.

    I have had a BMW car that was the same in terms of just begging you to go faster, it just wanted it and the faster you went the better it got. Now, I am disciplined so it became a case of what the hell am I doing with this thing? The M2 had to go. RT rider, far more sane and licence preserving.

    If you find your speed rapid, then the M1000r is going to be mental for you. The dealer did say to me that the s1000r seems to be the choice of many who think 200bhp naked bikes are just a little too much and why BMW may have kept it in the line up. Which I completely understand, especially on the road. It’s honestly nuts. Give both a try would be my suggestion. Both great bikes.
