OK> Thank you. I will try in the morning so I don't disturb my neighbours now. So if I do the master key first, I should be able to do the secondary key, but within 30 seconds. That is useful extra info. I have two original 1999 keys, and re-programmed one yesterday, but then... after that... what was the master no longer worked. So I hope doing them in immediate sequence will be the answer. Both have new batteries. Both have worked in the past 2 days, but not at the same time.. The reason I have the original keys from 1999 is the original owner had the car a very long time and it is a low mileage car. Becoming rarer now! :)

I have an X3 LCI, e83 2.0D, it came with one key which would not unlock/lock via the fob so I'm having to manually unlock the door. I have replaced the battery as it's over 10yrs old and tried the re-programming exactly by the steps in the video. However, I'm having no luck whatsoever, the key is original and does start the car, but the re-prgramming is causing me issues. Any one else had the same issue or know any tricks I do not know?

So there's no need to buy the BMW AK90 key programmer tool?

Hey man great video! Wanted to know, so if i buy a blank key with a new chip on Amazon or ebay, is this how you program it? Don't need to go to a dealer to program it?

I actually had one blank (generic) key and the one I ordered from the dealer. I was not able to get the blank to work for some reason. So I couldn't say if that would work.

My dad had a similar problem on his e53 x5 when he bought the Jeep it came with two keys the first one the battery died and the second one broke it would lock the car but not unlock. he tried to tape it up to fix it it didn’t so he just bought two new blank keys for it so the only thing left to do now is program the two keys and he should be good to go

There is no need to use a scanner for this, if that is what you are asking.

So That is what i Know i got a new key like the from e90 and later Models my Cars also let me Open/Lock with the new key but When i wanna start Engine with That key nothing Happens.

Just because central locking works doesn't imply the car will start. There is a different process to actually start the car, involving key code exchange with EWS etc... lot's of good info on-line about this topic.

Just bought a new key for my zed. Dealership told me customer had to program key. Tried a billion times. Still doesn’t work for me.

With the z3, u have to hold the home button and press the unlock button like 3x… or something like that after the on/off key motion. I got both my keys to work on my 02.

That key will not start car unless the transponder chip was programmed at the dealer.

To clarify, keys need to be programmed for your car EWS module, of course. I ordered this key from the dealer which means the key comes programmed from BMW as they use your VIN to place the order. This video is for the next step, which is to program or pair the key with your car after you get it from the dealer. That means you dont need to take the car in or pay a fee for the dealer to do this for you.

The key will start the car if it was cut it doesn’t need to be programmed to start it.

I know you mean well, but the video would be most helpful if all keys were fully charged and not broken. Either way, I upvoted you for the effort
