    Great video! I have ordered the car in the same colour/interior combo so it’s great to see the glamour shots. Have you done a video on your opinion of PPF? I’ve found it quite hard to find opinions contrary to the PPF bandwagon and would be really interested to hear yours, based on your expertise. Cheers.

    Great color combo. Totally in love with the interior! I want a rs6 and they have a similar Camel Brown color! My Bugatti Chiron video talks about ppf! The white turbo S video talks about it too. In general I talk about it often lol. It's a hot button thing for me! It's totally a "trendy" thing And if you buy a expensive car it's part of the car culture now to get expensive PPF to save it from the world. Depending on your situation it will make sense or it won't make any sense. I'll certainly make a in depth PPF video one day soon.

    Awesome review! I also have a xdrive m3 but I do have a question as I am trying to diagnose if I have a problem right now. When turning right or left from a full stop in first gear, I get this feeling like some gearing is not catching. The car doesn't necessarily shake but the acceleration is not smooth. It feels like a 4x4 car making a u turn and getting that jerky acceleration. In a straight line, the gear shifts are perfectly smooth/normal. Is this something you are experiencing in your m3 as well or something I should look into? Any information would help! I've been looking for information online but its hard to find information on the car as the xdrive m3 is especially newer.

    I don't have any videos on that actually..but when I get comments like this it helps me know I should make one!!! I have a video on ppf that you should probably check out. In general ceramic makes your car way more glossy. It maintains that gloss for years. It will be very hydrophobic and have amazing water beading that will also last year's. A bit of scratch resistance is added and chemical resistant like bird poo for example. It acts like a sacrificial layer top. So of you polish off some light imperfections you are really mostly removing ceramic and then just reapply fresh ceramic over top. Ceramic is a no brainer and has zero drawbacks in comparison to ppf. So ceramic should go on stand alone or on top of your ppf. The only real drawback is that is cost money to install! I hope that helps! Enjoy that awesome G80😃😃

    I'll treat this comment like a first conversation with a customer. Lmk how you use your car. How many miles do you drive a year. Lots of highway or little trips around town? Do you often do Rally's or cruises with friends who have cup tires? Any track time? Also what kind of car is it. Weekend fun car or daily driver? Do you plan to keep the car for many years or is it a toy you sell in 12-24 months? Based on your answers I'll let you know my honest opinion on if you need film and the pro cons. Plus what spots I'd do👍🙂

    @@STATUSDETAIL hi! I was actually wondering the same thing. I ended up getting PPF + ceramic but now wondering if the ppf was worth it for my situation…😶 Primarily a weekend fun car, but occasional mid-week errands/trips around town and every so often long drives/trips on the weekend (250-500+ miles roundtrip) No rallies or track days I plan to keep this one forever (‘18 BMW M2) Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Meeeks hello! So the most "dangerous" part of your driving habits in terms of Rock chips is the 300-500 road trips. If your doing that a couple times a year then you are rolling the dice on a stone chip a couple times a year too. So full front end PPF. Mirrors. Bumper. Hood. Fenders. Is going to be expensive and probably around $3000 or more depending on installer and how good that install is. I'm assuming it's high end and every edge that can be tucked is tucked. It's possible you see value in that ppf and it certainly helps stop little stuff. BUT when the big rocks hit... They go past everything and into your base coat or bare metal. So when you have ppf you now have limited options especially if your meticulous. You can leave it alone. You can pull the film and put touch up paint You can pull it and put touch up paint and re ppf but that won't look right You can pull ppf and repaint and ppf again. This is the only true solution to getting back to original condition. Also $$$$$ If you have no PPF. A good detailer or body shop can fill that Rock chip in. I do Rock chip repairs for free after a ceramic detail for 5-7 years. So it's really a gamble but in most cases and from what I see on my customers cars the value proposition of ppf isn't actually very good. Especially when you consider if the time rips once a year stopping a rock do you replace $600-800 of ppf every 12-16 months for 10 years if you keep it forever? Or paint it once every 5-10 years. I can see doing just a front bumper. It's likely to get that little stuff and have the peppered look. PPF stops that. But nearly every ppf job that's a few years old has a bullet hole in it from a rock and almost no one wants to pull a $800 piece of plastic off to find out if it hit the paint too. So it stays on and looks bad. But didn't we put ppf on to avoid this situation? I'd rather have a chip and live with it or touch up. Ultimately when time comes if it's a keeper. Just body shop the bumper or hood. If you keep cars a year or two then no one cars about a rock chip. No car has ever sold for less because of 1 or 2 chips. Not even the 1.5 million dollar McLaren P1 I did recently lol. Complicated topic. I hope this was helpful 🙂

    Be sure to follow my Instagram! Literally just posted a story about this on a GT500. That car got front bumper PPF only. Low cost and stops the peppered look. That only really happens to the front bumper. Big rocks go past everything tho ... My comment on one of the below comments goes pretty in depth on situations and if it's right for you. If your not hurting for money a front bumper only isn't a terrible idea.

    New to the channel but why don’t you recommend ppf?

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for checking out my KZread channel 🙂👍 Basically my style of detailing is an all out attempt at perfection. So I want cars to have perfect paint corrected paint. Maximum gloss from my unique dual layer ceramic etc. Ppf is a great idea for some people. Mainly for people that track cars often. Drive a ton of miles and it's almost all highway or for people that do a lot Of driving with friends who have sticky tires that throw rocks. The main drawback of ppf for me is the additional orange peel it adds to a panel. Especially when the adjacent panel has no ppf. You also have inevitable seems in some places because not everything can be fully tucked. Ultimately PPF can still get rock chips because nothing will stop a really big rock. So is it really offering protection? It's also pretty expensive In comparison to reasonable body shop that could repaint a bumper for almost similar cost. I can also put touch up paint in chips if no ppf is on car. But if a Rick goes past film I can only peel the ppf off and when we redo ppf it will look awful with the chip defect under. So if your that much if perfectionist you need to body shop hood before round 2 of ppf. It's kind of the debate of the century with me lol. Because I recently started offering it for customers like this one who really wanted a status detail and knows my stance on it but still wants ppf at end of day. I could go on.... Lol hope that gives insight. Full ppf pro cons video in works.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    Жыл бұрын

    One of the only times that I highly recommend PPF and it's an absolute no brainer and honestly it's a little crazy not to is when you do frozen or matte paint that's OEM. It's virtually impossible to repair because you cannot paint correct it. So for example if a bird poops on your hood and it etches it.... Game over. Highly recommend doing full body PPF on any matte OEM paint. That's basically the only time you're going to hear me highly recommend you do full body PPF lol You will need Matte PPF. Gloss ppf won't work.

    @@minigiant8998 great question. It works great on wheels. Paint. And even interior. Simply don't mix the bottles for each work area. So put wheel cleaner in one and that's only ever for wheels. Pit car soap in one and that's only for paint. You don't want to mix wheel cleaner in it. Then dump that out and out interior cleaner in it.
