I went from an e92 M3 to a '23 Giulia Quad. And while i miss some things about the M3 (e.g., v8 noise, competition seats, sentimental value, etc), I just adore the Alfa. It is brutally fast, agile as a water bug, sexy as sin, and just plain special to drive. Every trip is an event in that car. Plus, being originally from the tri-state area, I love hearing two accents from my childhood!

I absolutely LOVE my Giulia Quad!! I’ve owned three M3s ( still own my E92) and there’s just no true comparison. There’s a learning curve because the Italians are bound and determined to not recreate the German experience. However, once you become familiar with it you’ll laugh at the driving dynamics of the others! Especially Audi.

I’m not a Guilia hater, but just like folks hate the g80 front, I do not like the front of the guilia. Not having manual makes it not an option at all for me. I wouldn’t consider the black wing because I again don’t like how it looks and I really don’t like American cars as they feel cheap inside and I’m damn sure not about to pay over msrp. But, yes, these are the only 3 sports sedans worth considering. I love my g80 and will stick to BMW as long as they make manuals!

2022 Quads are going for around $62k and a 2022 M3C are going for $68-70k depending on options. Now you can get a higher milage 2017 Quad for high $30k/low $40k, but a 17 M3C is about $4-5k higher in price. I test drove a 22 Quad before I bought my G82 M4C and I liked it, but it felt more on par with an M340i power wise. The handling was definitely better than the M340i but acceleration, power etc is much better on the G8* M3/M4C. Both cars have their pluses and minuses so always buy what makes you the happiest. Fit and finish is considerably better on the M3. It's too bad this is the last year for the Quad/Giulia...maybe it'll be a future classic.

@@Peanutdenver You gotta be crazy to say the Qadrifoglio felt comparable to m340i powerwise. I test drove a 2023 m340i and a 2024 giulia quad back to back yesterday. I was considering these 2 cars for my next purchase, since price can become comparable in the used market and was initially thinking maybe I'll consider the m340i because of reputation and reliability over the giulia qaud IF the performance felt remotely comparable. Just passed 30K miles on my Giulia QV! The only issue that I've had was really small. Shifting at the redline at 100+ MPH in race mode caused a CEL to come on three different times. The solenoid on one of the turbos was on the fritz, working, but would knock its self out on a high rev, fast shift once in awhile. The 3 times the CEL went on, the light would turn off before even getting it to the dealer to fix it. The code showed it was the solenoid, but was working fine when they tested it. So the 3rd time, even after testing it showed it was fine, they just changed it under warranty anyway. Since the 1.5 years since replacing the solenoid, there has been no more CEL for anything! Has been perfect and reliable for me! I don't daily drive it though. I only take it to the PA countryside! Took it to the Catskills a few times too!

Some simple mods to improve the QV Specifically choose the bonalume diverter valve and 2 way adjustable blow off plate. 2 Hawk or stop tech brake pads and rotors. 3. K&N intake filters. The reason it never came to the USA was because it couldn’t pass the 5 Star crash test the clutch pedal was causing bad injuries to the crash test dummies its also a reason they used a brake by wire system. For Alfa to finally come back to the USA the goal was to have great crash safety to build buyer confidence in the brand.

I am also close on pulling the trigger and buying a Giulia QV. Always been an M3 fan, had an F80 and currently have and e92 M3. I will not sell my e92 to buy the QV as I think I will regret it (I am super attached to that shitbox). The main reason I am holding back on buying one is the aftermarket mods (very limited) and the re-sale market. Alfa is unable to move the new ones or 2023, I have even seen brand new 2022 Stelvio QV at the dealer still. They are offering massive discounts in order to move them, so if I decide to re-sell it, not sure how well it will go. But again, all the reviews are exceptional. I think the QV is the biggest hidden gem for car enthusiasts.

  • @autofanaticcars

the issue is not Alfa it is the entire car market and inflation that makes it hard for people to lease and finance now with rates so high. Cars are sitting as a result and only some brands are offering incentives and low APR like Mazda and a few others. There is quite a big aftermarket for Alfa domestic and abroad so that should not be of any concern. New car resale is down on every model unless it is a limited edition Porsche or Ferrari and exotic everything else is dropping once again because interest rates are so high causing a slow turn over of inventory. Not many buyers who want to pay 8-14% interest on a car note these days so it is a cash buyers market.

Agree with your comments and I've driven all 3 - G80 M3 manual, Alfa QV, and Cadillac CT4V Blackwing manual. They are all great options. The G80 M3 is an amazing car with great power and cool tech, but that shifter feel is just not good. The fact there are so many of them also makes it less special than the QV for sure, but the BMW community and available aftermarket options are a plus. The QV felt so light and nimble to me, and the engine and sound are amazing. Especially the torque and power down low. Interior and tech are uninspiring in comparison, but that's not a bigger factor for me. Reliability does however remain a concern. The CT4V Blackwing has a better shifter than the M3 without a doubt. Feels heavier in the drive for me but also more solid which I appreciated. The exterior styling and tech both fall short in comparison to the M3 but the power, shifter feel, and chassis are really good. Biggest negative to the CT4V is that it's a Cadillac.

Every review I have seen on a Quad also has said they brakes feel too grabby, I have never heard the brakes in the Quad be described as underwhelming. One might not like the feel, I do, but saying they are not goo,,, Well that is not correct. M3 are nothing compared to this car, the engineering alone if on a completely different level. Remember that this car was designed from the ground up by the same man and team that created the 458. Another thing is that every model shows this, every model has the same preparation to be a 300km/h plus car, either it has the engine for it or not. Series 3 has to be seriously modified to take the M3 power, and still is nothing compared to the Alfa. All and all, the Giulia is the best car in the world since it was launched, and that is the truth.

The issue with the G80 series is that the steering is deader than a beached whale. And it is sticky. Add to that the mushy brakes, and you wonder what BMW was thinking. I'm trading mine soon for a Cayman GTS. The Giulia is no doubt more of a tactile car, but they are simply not reliable enough to justify as a daily driver. And just need to add that Porsche has the best brake feel in the business. Not the VW Macan, but the real porsches. I also have a new GT3, and let me tell you, please drive one. yes the G80 steering BMW took a polar opposite direction from the mega stiff vague and heavy feel of F80 M3. I think they were trying to make it feel like the Giulia but with the different style front geometry it does not feel anywhere near as sharp and tactile. It is a great car overall but if you own and have driven other and better performance cars then you start to nit pick the G80 quite a bit which is why you see so many for sale with very low miles as the fun factor seems to wear off quickly for most, it did for me. I have driven the new GT3 Touring and standard versions and they are amazing but the only caveat is they are $300k and not attainable for most. The new Alfas are pretty reliable the earlier cars were a gamble for most.

@@autofanaticcars you are incorrect, i am on my 3rd M3 and your statement is not accurate. On the other hand, i have 2 buddys with Quads and one of them just decided to buy an extended warranty for almost $5k because his car spends weeks at a time at the dealership which a lot of times have no idea how to even fix the car (they do know however how to replace fuel pumps lol)

Most of the people crying about reliability are people that don’t own an Alfa. The few problems that people do have are a result from a bad battery or a battery that’s about to die. These cars are very sensitive to battery voltage.

You have been lied to. These are solid. Early problems were software and lousy OEM batteries, and a bad batch of turbos. Those have been worked out and they are quite reliable.
