Good video. The reason to loosen the triple clamp is to relax any pressure on the tube, and therefor the top plug itself. Just loosen the top clamp, no need to slide the fork tubes up.

In the service manual they ask to completely disarm the whole forks, do you think this method is better if we just want to change the oil? This method is much more simple for beginners like me..Thank you

Why not doing it without pulling the bars up?

Does it make a difference if I drive it around for a while first to make the old oil a bit warmer? Just got a 12 year old f650gs after 10 years of not owning motorcycle, love it. great vid.

Hello Friend! i'm from brazil and i need to change the oil in the rear suspension of my F650 year 95. how many oil should i put inside the shock absorber? which oil should i use ????

The spec won't be 600cc per leg, it'll be "air gap XXX mm from the top". When you don't really know if it's fully empty, using a fixed capacity to refill isn't correct.

Top fastener should be loosened.

Yes, lifting the fork releases tension on the cap. You could also simply open the clamping bolt.

Доброго времени сток у меня bmw f650 1996. столкнулся с неисправностью- удары по рулю когда передняя подвеска разжимается после проглатывания глубоких неровностей дороги. Масло в вилке менял - результата ноль. Пока собираю информацию и определяю какие запчасти покупать. Буду благодарен информации - мало ли кто сталкивался..удачи на дорогах))
