BMW Fork Seal Replacement

The 2006 BMW F650GS project bike continues with the fork seals being replaced. I was able to install the seals with no special tools with some neat tricks on pressing in the bushings and seals. I used two different techniques to install the seals onto the fork seals without tearing them. Check out the video and leave me some feedback! Thanks for watching.

One of the best instructional videos I’ve seen with practical installation hacks for normal people.

Thanks for the video, really great work. May I ask how did you support the f650gs before you dismount the front wheel? Is the motorcycle standing only on his central foot? If not would you mind to share your patent for supporting the motorcycle for this maintenance work?

Hello -I'm just in the middle of this procedure and I ratchet-strapped a plastic milk crate underneath the bike, tight to the skid plate. It is very sturdy and will not fall over with the front forks removed. Cheers.

Thanks for the video, @18:39 you drop that piece in, then @18:48 the other piece, how do you line these 2 piece up so you can get the bottom bolt back in ?

Honestly, it has been a year since I put this together. The bottom pieces went together easy on the first one, but I had to dump it back out and try again until it fell into place. No special tools, just some patience.

Bro, first of all thanks a million for sharing this video! Much appreciated. Secondly, shamelessly ask people to subscribe to your channel. Only way to grow a larger audience. I'm getting this bike tomorrow but it does not shift into 1st gear. I suspect its to do with the torsion spring. Any suggestions and advise appreciated. Cheers!

This is a ridiculous, idiotic surefire way to F*** up your stanchions and the recess where the dust seal resides. Notwithstanding that the commentary mostly consists of sighs and grunts with little clear explanation of what is being done at what stage. There are slightly better vids on how to do this properly, albeit by extending the shock and separating the stanchion from the housing.
