Good review Mark, still think it's not quite there yet compared to the established middle weight off road orientated bikes ktm890, 790r,tenere 700,tuareg 660,due to weight, fuel capacity and 17 inch rear wheel, limited tyre option, and rear luggage limitations 👍

Thanks Neil, yeah the rear tyre size could be a issue, but weight wise I think it's how a bike feels and distributes the weight and I could believehow light it felt. The t7 is only a best seller due to the engine/simplicity and price. And is for me boring to ride on the rd. Aprilia are let down by the lack of dealers world wide and time waiting on parts but as the bike goes it's a very capable bike on and off rd. The ktm is always going to be the one you sit on the fence with as there a love hate thing. I love them and they do everything perfectly 👌 but then if you want customer service and a manufacturer to give a shot then orange isn't for you. Think I'll just buy one each and have done with it 😂

It's just the reliability that seems to let ktm down now.

Nice to watch, thanks for the review. As you owned the 1290SAR and the 890 ADV, which one out of the 3 inlcuding thr 900 gs rally would you bye and why ? ( I am just in the hard situation to take this decision - although i did not ride any of them 😊, but these are my 3 favs currently from all the adv reviews I have watched during the winter) . Thank you in advance for your reply.

Well I still own the 1290 and 790. They are both awesome bikes. To be fair your decision needs to depend on what you want from the bike and how you expect to use it and you ability. For arguments sake the 790/890 is a very easy bike to ride over hard terrain and will inspire confidence with the low centre of gravity and it's light enough to pick up if you drop. The 1290 is just a animal but a fussy cat at the same time. Well balanced and again easy to ride but yeas you do notice the weight difference on hard terrain or boggy ground and yes you can pick it up but again depends how strong and energetic your feeling. Now with the bmw I know it won't do aswell as the 890 off road but it will do it and the biggest compromise would be the ground clearance and then going onto the rd it's a peace. So my summary is if you can only afford 1 bike is 890 if your a hard core off reader 1290 for distance and European trips and off rd like the act stuff If your not really into doing massive amounts of miles and just want a solid good all rounder then the bmw. Also just remember building quality and customer service/back up is fare superior on the bmw Hope this helps

@@ishymoto3179 thank you so much for the detailed response. Of course you are right and it depends of what I really want. I am coming from a KTM RC8R but I want to go more into the adventure game. So actually I am a KTM fan boy but the 890 does Not please me well, although I know it is the most capable offroader. Actually I am searching for a "eierlegende wollmilchsau" we call in Germany 🤣 which can be translated with "all in one solution". So should be capable of doing single ride off-road but also comfy long distance riding with pillion. I don't know if this makes sense at all but I can't afford a third bike as I am trying to keep my KTM 🤣✌️ have a good one!

Did you ever ride the 850GS? I had one and felt like it was a little overweight and a pretty forgettable engine. Didn’t stay long. Interested to know if the 900 has made it any better

Yes mate, as mentioned my other half has a 850 but it's only for touring and yes it's a totally different animal with the 850 feeling very top heavy
