    Great video Albe, it helps a lot. Can you please answer how do you prevent the air goinig into system if you completely remove fluid from the reservoir before bleeding?

  • @AlbesADV

    @AlbesADV

    4 жыл бұрын

    Remove the old fluid from the reservoir, then fill it back up with new fluid and start bleeding the brakes, keep filling the reservoir until you get clean fluid coming out of the bleeding valve. Just try not to let any air in the system in the first place 👍

  • @culici

    @culici

    Thanks, that is very clear in your video. But in this video and in video where you bleed rear brakes you removed old fluid completely from the reservoir, you even turned the reservoir upside-down to remove the old fluid. Wouldn't that action let the air inside the system?

  • @AlbesADV

    @AlbesADV

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@culici because of the back pressure in the hose , the fluid in the hose is not coming out, just like when you close one side of a straw and pull it out of a drink, the liquid in the straw is not coming out until you open the other side. There is a small chance that some air might get trapped between the new fluid and the old, but when you bleed the system the air will come out with the old fluid. I hope this helps 👍

    Very nice video, thank you. Clear and understandable, I have a question: I have an F800 and want to change the brake fluid and the only product I can find it called itself DOT4 was a Valvoline full synthetic that says it is.3 AND 4. I did not know that this product was out there and it seems kind of odd to me but that's what I wound up with. Do you think that that would be appropriate for the f800?

  • @AlbesADV

    @AlbesADV

    The difference between dot 3 and dot 4 is that dot 4 has a higher boiling point, it's always best to use the manufacturer's recommended grade or better, but if you can't find it, unless you use your bike to actually race, it shouldn't be that big of a deal to use dot 3and4.

    my mechanic changed mineral oil instead of DOT4 in front brakes, and on on the second ride (hot day) my front brake disc got stocked, could that be a case? Could it ruin the whole brake system? thanks

  • @AlbesADV

    @AlbesADV

    Yes, brake fluid has different properties that mineral oil, viscosity, temperature resistance etc. That is full on incompetence. Sorry man, I recommend to flush the system, clean it and put the proper grade fluid in it, hopefully the damage is limited

    I think the ABS bleading procedure is necessary only when you disassemble the break system, as you will remove all fluid from it. So, to remove the air from ABS, is necessary to do it. If you not let the air gets in, as showed in this video, I think is not necessary to bleed the ABS.

    Hello albe. Because of your video I succeeded in doing a rear brake fluid flush. But i am having some troubles at the front. I have been bleeding for 2 hours, almost 500ml but there is still air trapped in the system. When i press the brake lever, air moves up in the reservoir. I get clean fluid through the hoses at both calipers. I am thinking maybe because of the circle shaped hose (over the front wheel) air gets stuck up there. It looks just as in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lISp0diBZtbHldo.html Maybe you have some advise for me? Thanks a lot for making these video's kind regards, Maarten

    That is super weird, it really shouldn't be doing that unless the brake master cylinder is sucking in air, does the lever feel spongy? Sorry I can't help more

  • @beatsmarttie5777

    @beatsmarttie5777

    Жыл бұрын

    @@AlbesADV a little spongy but still hard. I am not able to pull the lever as far that it is touching the grip. I had no problems at the rear. I did suck out the fluid on the front though. I didn't do that at the rear. But i filled it up right away and started the bleeding procedure. I am not sure what to do anymore 🤣.

    Would have been better if the brake was spongy at least you know something is really wrong with it, might be worth to leave it alone for a few days and see how it settles down. Good luck man, let me know how it goes 😀👍
