That video didn't even feel like 30min. I've seen a lot of M4 videos and nobody has explained the S55 like this wow. Can't wait for more content.
That guy really knows his stuff. Great guy to have on your team
Man your videos are on another level. They’re just so real and authentic. I love how you capture little details when most people don’t even think about filming.
Man, I am so hyped for these videos. This is such a CLEAN spec Spencer, great choice!
The crank hub issue is blown out of proportion. I have two friends that work at a BMW dealership. One has been there 9(started in 2012) years and the other 15 years(started in 2006). They have never seen that issue on the s55 motor. I daily drive my 2015 M3(except in bad weather) I drive it hard at times, I have the DCT transmission. No problems. I do like to brag about my car having a factory badge delete on the trunk...no M3 symbol.
@jinxtacy
Жыл бұрын
Blown out of proportion yes. An issue that is possible? Yes. Seems to happen more with people upping the power along with the DCT. The money would probably be better spent getting a group of friends to throw money into an annual pot and if the issue happens then the person that has the issue collects the pot for a new motor/repair. It would probably be cheaper and in reality, everyone would probably get their money back instead of thousands of people spending thousands of dollars to prevent the unlikely.
I legitimately got goosebumps several times throughout watching this video. I’m so happy for you. Also I can’t wait to see where this build goes!
Bro, this is the best video ever man. I feel like my knowledge just went through the roof. Amazing content 🔥🔥!!
The best info content for f series on you tube, I'm so happy you brought this car.
Thank you for these videos man, just watched one with what you went through and just needed a break
I see Precision as a MUST VISIT when I go to California, love these guys
This guy is so knowledgeable, I can’t wait for him to start work on your car.
Sick, about to jump from this one to the newest upload. Feels good to have your car content back my guy!
Thanks for making this video! Definitely plan on getting a f80 this year and he definitely knows his stuff ... will make sure to take it to him when I get one ! 🙏🏽
I appreciate you for making this video I learned a lot on the S55 platform that I love so much
I am planning in buying an m3 soon and this video has taught me a lot. Bravo
can’t wait to see what you have in store for the car!
So excited for this build man!!
I love you when go to PD, I’ve learned so much from them! Keep up the work ❌
Been watching your videos for a few months... the info in this video turned me into a subscriber! Extremely interested in your upcoming future content on the f80. Congrats on the new car (you got a wild good deal on the car) and that's coming from someone who works in the car business. Hoping you have a Happy new year , warm regards from your newest subscriber on the east coast :)
Hyped as hell because I got to watch Spencer’s new vid on my tv when I woke up lol 😁✌️
Missed the M content great video man🔥🔥
Great video. So much useful info. Thank you!
Looking forward to this series, Im going to be in the market for a F80/F82 in the future and this video was very informative !
Get Equal length midpipes for good sound. I'd leave the cats on.

What an awesome video, really made it clear that this car is the one I should replace my 340 with !
I miss my FBO F82 M4 so badly!!!! One of the BEST cars I've owned. Same spec as yours.. It does everything with ease!!! Drive it in good health bro!
Even with all those restrictions on the stock exhaust - removing them doesn’t change WHP that much. Which means the stock exhaust is extremely efficient.
Awesome just awesome video man👍👍👍
Mine is stock, haven't had any problems with it so far,great video.
Knowledgeable guys at the shop.

Love your videos man and one of the main sources that lead me to finally pull the trigger on a 2018 M3 Comp with only 44K mikes and a rare Certified Preowned. However, please tell me, at what mileage should I get this controversial crank hub and what’s a the go to reliable aftermarket one to get? Thanks and keep up the great videos!!
White exterior with carbon accents and red seats is my dream spec ! Love the car
Great information
Mike and his team at PD know their stuff!

great video :)
Looking forward to the canyon run video!
Weather we like it or not Spencer all BMWs have an Achilles Heel. Some are worse than other generations. But I’m not here to be negative. Congrats on the new BMW! I’m very happy for you friend! 👍

Great video, lots of good information about the S55. At 20:50 dude said, he has to let off the throttle after the mods he has done with the car, cause it breaks loose, which is a common problem even with stock F80/82. Knowing this, I don’t understand why people are always trying to make more power. More power just makes this car un drivable.
@johnnylima784
2 жыл бұрын
I fully agree. I have a 2016 Standard m3 LCi and went back to stock after fbo as the car becomes almost undrivable with all that power!don’t get me wrong it’s very enjoyable with the added mods and extra oomph but it becomes a bit difficult to max the car say around corners or powersliding for example because the car becomes somewhat unbalanced due to all the extra power. I feel like I have to constantly half throttle like I’m driving on ice.I’m a straight line it’s all good, but these cars are so fun in the corners why would you take that away from the driving experience. For me at least, it takes some of the fun away, as I believe pushing the car to its max is much more enjoyable. My 2c
Lots of helpful information here. Makes me appreciate and love my f80 m3 comp more to know that theyre so reliable. Keep these content coming! beautiful spec and congrats on the car!

So glad helps! Thanks for watching and I appreciate that!
Beautiful Car man, and damn that mechanic seems amazing. I want one like that here in England :D
Here we go again with the crank hub. Yes, crank hub do fail but most of the time it’s due to modifications which increases torque. Also how aggressive you drive the car plays a big factor. I know guys who have their F80 for years and no crank hub issue. I have a 2016 F80 and have never had a crank hub problem. Again, I’m not saying it can’t fail. But it’s funny when people go nuts over it because they’ve seen some cases of it on social media. If it was a huge universal problem, BMW would have issued a recall on it. With all that being said, I do agree upgrading it if you are doing modifications for power and torque increase. Someone mentioned dropping some spacers. I agree, it will make the car look more aggressive and have a wider stance. 12mm front and 15mm rears is a good setup. The better option is to buy a wider wheel but spaces will do the trick until you’re ready to invest in wheels.
@TruongMikeMai
3 жыл бұрын
BMW will never recall it, just like the S65 rod bearings. S63tu has rod bearing failures as well. So does the N63tu. N20/N26 has timing chain guide failures. Even N54 has turbo, injectors, and high pressure fuel pump failure. They only offered "extended warranty". Sorry but no manufacture will openly admit fault and offer recalls as it'll cost millions of dollars. Until someone does a lawsuit and wins, we will never see it happen
Mike is saying it's a "must" upgrade, but it's all BS. 1% of failure from all F8x owners doesnt dicate tht it's a must upgrade/fix. Even if it does fail, most of the time it will just throw off timing which won't leave to engine failure do to engine going into limp mode. It's FAKE pandamonia in the F8x world. Just being real. Love your content as always Spencer
@TruongMikeMai
3 жыл бұрын
I should've rephrased it. It's not a must, just as it's not a must to get car insurance. But in the case that you're one of the unlucky few (Very few) that has timing thrown off significantly, you can bend the intake valves. Which will require a head rebuild (I've done this repair 3 times now). Not saying that it's going to happen to everyone, but it's always better to be safe
@The_Diesel733
3 жыл бұрын
@@TruongMikeMai Car insurance is a totally different thing and that analogy doesn't work. Yes you need insurance and its there to protect you from comprehensive and also liability. Crank Hub, less than 1% failure so the odds are in F8X owners. Even keyed crank hubs fail.
Great video! How many miles did you buy it with? At what mileage do you replace the crank hub, ideally?
Love this! Looking to buy my first M car once I’ve taken care of some financial stuff post-grad. Hoping to send my car up to Precision, even if it costs an arm and a leg to get any vehicle from Hawaii to U.S. mainland LOL
I had an e36 M3. The M3 and cars in general have come a long way in 20 years.
Another great video thanks for all the info on this car i just got a 2017 m3 f80 comp pack and i want to do some mods but do you know how much would it cost to change the crank hub? Thanks
Just got mine 💪🏼
I just bought an F80 a week ago,....MY 2017,...and I'm very aware of the CH issue. I have no mods planned for the near future,...as the Entire car is a Mod to me! Just gonna enjoy it as it is 100% OEM Stock!
Wish we had THOROUGH shops an shop owners like this in Mass. dude seems like he actually likes cars unlike some mechanics i know😔☹️😞😒
EQUAL LENGTH mid pipe will get rid of the dry rasp noise , I think you should consider it .
If I move back to cali from Florida im definitely bring my M4 here
I like your videos because you can relate to them. It is cool to se all the supercar channels but this is more ”real” I have a F10 M5 and I wish there were a channel like your with a M5 😊

Love the layout/color combo, but why no comp pkg or 6 speed? Gives you better steering feedback, sound, and handling out of the box....and the rims look nice.
"just for the gas station pictures" 😂
im looking to buy a 2015 m3, was learning about the crank hub, are these sold so i as a mechanic could install?
What a great mechanic - most I get out of my independent is a just or raises eyebrows
says 55 is cold, us new england people are shaking our heads. haha
Car is naked asf bro. You need to put on some M Performance parts asap. Carbon mirror caps, black side gills, carbon spoiler, carbon diffuser etc. Eventuri air intake V2 is also a must have.
I love it
Dang this guy really knows his f8x stuff.
If you want to keep it stock should you still replace the crank hub
Best video 🔥🔥🔥 Me As F82 Owner
Kennedy is a good dude. I used to see him at meets in the Bay Area.
Still better than all the issues with the e90/92 platform.
What tint are you running on your whip and do you ever get pulled over for it being too dark?
$56k with 26k miles is hella good deal bro... love the look. Congrats. I am a dealer and I checked MMR auction price which is around 54k with no drive assistance and crappy color.
@Arunjitt
3 жыл бұрын
It’s non comp tho, I paid $62k last year for 14k miles fully loaded 2018.
Nice
So 2015 has the same crank hub issue? I've heard it's more prominent if the engines been modified? Idk I'm looking to get one start of next year but trying to learn as much as I can before hand
when u get ur crankhub done can u plz ask him the difference bettween a crank capture and a crank hub and which one is the better option
Are you taking this back to the detail place you took the E92?
Equal length midpipe is the first mod, then crank hub
I’ve been into Bimmers ever since I went to the factory as a kid, for euro delivery with my family in 1975 for the first e-21’s to roll off the assembly line. Those motors had forged internals. My current e-21 has almost 200k miles on it, and I drive the crap out of it and can’t kill it. And I can’t help but to be disappointed with this crank hub issue and ZERO factory support. But, I’ve heard failures are in 1% of stock cars and that number increases as the mods do. So, these clever fixes are impressive, but how well do they hold up? Drilling holes into the crankshaft, metal shavings, balancing issues, etc…? I’ve seen different designs and can only wonder if they stand up to the testing the engineers do at back at Munich. Props to the aftermarket guys though.
Do 2020 m4s still need the crank hub changed out?
dude you live next to Manny Koshbin, you should do a collab with him
So I was talking to a buddy who works at a BMW dealer in MO but I sent him a VIN and he said that the crankhub would be covered... but other sources say its not. Any ideas?
