    Lorry, just finished installing these awesome crash bars. Your product rocks. Could not be more solid. Installation was very straight forward. Write down which bolts go in what location do you don’t have to keep stopping the video during installation. Two items not in video. Right side upper mount has a wire tie mount screwed in. Clip the tire and unscrew mount. Re-tire later. On the left side you have to take off a plastic cover. One screw at bottom rear and pull out pin in front.

    I didn't get the skittles but I did get the racks and bars within the promised delivery window! (2020 f850gs) Install was pretty straightforward. Video instructions very good. I released some of the fairing screws to accommodate the (driver's) upper right bolt, had to fiddle around with cross bar to get a proper fit, and had to release a plastic wiring harness cover on driver's left -- nothing difficult but be prepared to adjust as you go. With respect to fit and finish, the welds are decent and appear solid, the powder coat is done well, and the branded metal labels are a nice touch. My driver's upper left protrudes slightly more than the right. Unclear if this is by design or defect, but not a big deal. I tend to tip-over to left more than to right, so this will eventually even out! My request to OM would be a one-page PDF materials sheet with a list of which bolts go where. The videos are great for high-level overview, but would be a quicker install with PDF instructions sheet.

    Received mine and plan on doing the install this week. They came well packed and look to be very well made. The dealer in the US also included a few stickers for my toolbox and a bag of skittles that my 14 year grabbed right away.

    Just installed these on my 2019 F850GS. Additional tools required that weren't mentioned include T25 to remove the plastic cover on the LH side above the shift linkage, 8 mm socket or spanner for the M6 bolts (these should have just be M8 fasteners like the rest), and 17 mm spanner for the nut behind the M10 SHCS on the LH side. The torque for the T55 engine to frame bolts should be 100 Nm, not 47 Nm. This is a critical torque value. Overall, very happy with the quality of the bars and would purchase again, but the menagerie of different fasteners is a puzzling design philosophy.

    Thank you for this comment. I installed these today and without this comment I would tighten T55 with 47Nm. I checked the torque value in service manual and it is 100Nm and the bolt is M12. This info is missing in the video.

    Thanks man, i was looking for this spec, also a strange array of bolts and nuts and I’m missing the spacers. The 10x30mm also does not clear the nyloc nut. Bottom left side.

    Awesome product. Just a heads up: I believe there is a typo at 09:10 - it should be the M8x35mm bolt as shown at 10:00

    Great Video & Great Product. Missing from the video: 1. Left Side - remove of the black plastic panel above the quick shifter (as other mentioned) and 2. What is the torque setting for the T55 bolts? Lastly, at the mounting point next to the kick stand, the crash bar goes behind. (Was not clear enough in the video). Note that the silver color is lighter than the other silver parts of the motorcycle and different finish. I should've probably gone with black, but I'm happy I got them quickly. Thank you!!

    The kit came with 2 x m10 black Allen bolts. Both had a washer and nut. What’s the purpose of the additional nut for the m10 Allen bolt? Was paranoid I had missed something. The one in the RHS goes straight into the engine block.

    Me too. You did not miss anything. There is no reference to the second nut in the install video so keep it on the bike if case the installed nut ever gets lost!

    Hi. I have the crash bar protector for the F850GS, will there be an upper crash bar protector, or is that not possible.

  • @Outbackmotortek

    @Outbackmotortek

    3 жыл бұрын

    It’d be irresponsible on our part to offer upper crash bars. There are no mounting points to support a set of upper crash bars without collapsing after one small crash. The crash bars we offer work well as per the video evidence but you can increase the protection by adding a set of decent aftermarket hand guards.

    Thanks for your feedback. You’ll have to loosen the bolts on the cross brace as well as the upper crash bars. Pull the cross brace forward while retightening the bolts in order to create more clearance

    Alright so. I echo some of the comments below in this. Having a video is great. But, written instructions are also necessary. I wrote my own, following the video. I'm ABOUT to put my set on, but I'm caught, concerned with a couple things. I'd love to hear some verification of the mentioned missing steps/necessary tools. And, is it critical to WAIT, and tighten EVERYTHING together at the end? I was considering installing the lower bars this weekend, and the uppers later when I have a little more time. I obviously dont want them dancing around loose in that time. Will I need to loosen them before installing the uppers?
