Today I sprayed my chrome kidney grills gloss black. I did about 4 coats to make it (hopefully) strong and durable. It looks so much better. Very easy job to get them out, but even easier to get them back in. Literally put in place loosely and press until all clips are set. Job done :)

Just received my grill today :) got it brand new off ebay for £10 🙂🙂

I think 3 of my torque screws are missing. Where can purchase some ?

Take them off, paint them black, save money, buy the M color caps kit (they sell them for like 9$) and you plug them into the grille. Saved many bucks. Nice vid, man!

Put your hands up for black on black E90 and E91. Very useful and simple guide. Gonna use it als for my replacement. Haven't yet decided on whether i want all black gloss or the one with the M stripes. I have full M package on so it might look nice. Thanks for the upload! #DriveFastOrBeLast

The kidney grills are easy to take out, respray and put back. I just did mine today. My E91 £20D is back and with the black grills it looks fantastic. I hated the chrome.

What if you have a 2011 328i that doesn’t have the trim on the hood? Do you know where to get these grills?

My car has the one piece grills. I just took them out today, cleaned them up, spreayed them black, waited for the paint to dry and then clipped them back in. So easy and it looks awesome!

@@snowydays612 i did today, just try and get a screwdriver under that top part and separate it from the screw by applying pressure with the screwdriver. mine was stuck and this worked, after that, just unscrew the screws left there.

Can someone pleaseeee tell me what kind of screws go on the kidney grill molding?? I swear I’ve looked everywhere , I got this exact grill and can’t put it on until I have the screws

@@fritshermes6328 I had to pry inbetween the top long parts and the bonnet. Applied serious pressure and it actually came off without damaging the grill or bonnet.

@@nofacenothing You applied pressure to prevent the screw from spinning? Otherwise I can't see how you remove it without either damaging the grill (most likely) or the screw failure (less likely)

@@fritshermes6328 Sorry, I was unscrewing the bolts at the same time. I used a flathead screwdriver to create leverage between the long, top parts of the grill and the bonnet, kept unscrewing and it came off. Thinking about it, one of the bolts on either side was intact enough to unscrew anyway, which probably made a difference. Got them off and nothing was damaged. The lip of the bonnet was slightly warped but was easily rectified and hidden by those top parts anyway, even if I wasn't able to right it 👍

Could you make a vid which shows how to remove grills without unscrewing the bumper? You can unclip them by inserting fingers in between the slats :-) Such "how-to" would save some time to quite a few people.

It is very very easy. I just did mine today. I got the chrome kidney grills out, sprayed them black and a few hours later popped them back in. Simple job.

But it’s not a M

You sure these don’t just click off from the clips?😂 you could literally yank em right off of you wanted to
