Did mine 3 months ago as well! I flushed it also 3 times until I saw only clear water coming out and then I put the bmw coolant with the destilled water
Just discovered your channel and I like it ! Tons of useful information, thank you ! You've got a new subscriber ;)

Thanks man, I’m glad you’re here
just done this and took me x10 to from green coolant to clear! just half a days work . topped it up with 1:1 bmw blue coolant :). and i'll also be looking to do my oil cooler gaskets and the oil filter gaskets along side with the mickey mouse hose upgrade (another flush) and while at it i'll also clean out my vanos solenoids as it showed up "check engine light" :)
Used this one as a reference guide last weekend for my GF's 116i.

On N47 e87 120d only with vacuum.
I did the coolant change on my 130i today, your vid just made clear what to do. Just a little tip, the hose clamp at the thermostat ist easier to unclip from the top with a small screw driver. In my case, about 1,9l were left in the engine block, I refilled 6.3l. Fortunately mine had the green stuff already in, as it should. Thanks for the vid :) Saved me money worth about 2 Nordschleife Laps ;)

I need your help M Tech Guy as my radiator has 2x blue drain plungs on both sides on bottom. Which one should I unsreew for drain? Thank you for your help in advance.
PLEASE HELP! Just changed the oil cooler on my e87 120i. Tried bleeding the the system but the heater doesn’t work anymore. The vehicle soon overheated after a short drive. How can I successfully bleed the cooling system in this case?
Thank you very much for that clear and informative video. I have a question which likely reflects my poor mechanical knowledge. Would it be terrible if I drain the radiator only and not the engine? I have big hands and little patience, so I can see myself having a lot of trouble (and possibly breaking something) disconnecting and reconnecting the radiator hose! :(

Thanks for checking out the video man. Yeah it’s not a big deal to just drain the rad, so long as the coolant you are using is the same as what came out. But to do a proper flush you really want to drain the whole lot. I would encourage you to take the other steps, it’ll increase your mechanical knowledge/competency 👍

Hi mate, thank you for the video. I’ve just had the coolant amber light show when I start my 2007 1 series, diesel. Am I ok to just top the coolant up? Think I should use the BMW coolant? Thanks in advance 👍
@MTechGuy
Жыл бұрын
Yeah top it up, but inspect for any leaks etc. Top up with BMW coolant if that’s what’s in the car now
To my rescue again! My 130i has been overheating as indicated by a yellow coolant temp light, then shortly thereafter, a red one. The yellow one comes on when the coolant reaches 120°C, and the red one at 125°C. Not good. First step is to bleed, next is checking the water pump isn't failing. Thanks mate!

Would it be the same procedure for the 125i e82/e88 ? As far as I know the engine is exactly the same

Yes, same
This has so many steps to do! I wonder if the mechanics really do the same at their workshop? Or do they have a vacuum to do this differently?

They start the electronic water pump from their computer. They won’t even bother doing the steps that me and you will do.

@arnesto2571

@@e688699 yes. That’s what we should normally do. All the remaining coolant will get mixed with the tap water and then you simply keep draining it until you see clean water coming out

Hi M Tech Guy. Thanks for your great series of vids! May I ask a question please? I have 1 Series E87, N47 engine, 118d. I'm going to follow your coolant change instruction, (and hopefully a flush). Does my car also have an electric pump to bleed same as your procedure as shown in your vid.? I can't seem to find the answer on the Net. Thanks Paul

did you manage to change the coolant? i'm also interested in how do you bleed it?
I’ve inherited my dads 1 series, e87 with N45 engine. Checking the coolant and it’s virtually dry, the float is way down. Would you just top it up with new coolant or look at possible radiator flush and engine block drain? Thanks
@MTechGuy

Top it up for now, but plan to drain and refill with fresh coolant. I wouldn’t bother with radiator flush

Hi. My car bmw e82 125i has red coolant. Need to worry. Do I continue to use red or do I need to switch to blue. I would be grateful for an answer.

It shouldn’t be red. I would flush all the old coolant out with water, then replace it with the BMW blue coolant
My level stick is at the min level can I just top it up with G48 coolant until the stick is at the max level ? Or will I have to do the bleeding process also ? Thanks

It is very easy to do. Lift up you car, take the plastic engine cover out and then next smaller cover on the driver side, bit more to edge of car. There is fuel filter. Replacing is easy. Bit of fuel will come out. Be sure to not put any dirt to fuel system pipes or new filter as well as be sure to install it in right direction. That is. Have a great day!🤟
