We had to reinforce the hull, so it can handle the waves better. The whole hull was flexing under full speed.

YourFreeness I can only imagine! Totally not the kind of power they were built for way back, but you guys did a great job! Must be a blast to see the looks on people's faces at the marina.

About 42knots. The acc was good, you could probably go up 2 sizes in prop, would give about 50knots. Well done!

What drive Do you use Volvo Penta? Prop pitch and diameeter?

hello, what transmission did you use and what ratio? I used a volvo penta dp290 after a v8 gasoline engine and it doesn't work

Hi there, I’m also building a speed boat using a bmw engine (m57 from an e46 330d with a stand-alone ecu) I’ve done plenty of research and most people seem to think the alpha isn’t a strong enough gearbox, I am just wondering how yours is holding up? I’m planning to use the slightly older mc1 which in lead to believe is pretty much an alpha. Thanks

An Alpha One *GEN II* can handle a 5.7 V8,no problem with that 3000 cc; the old one (gen I) is a bit small ,if you push the turbo to 1 bar,but the GEN II has a bigger head on top,just keep the gear oil clean every year, and i would also absolutely install a *Drive Shower* ,home made; without it,the top WILL overheat,the oil will turn black,it's the end.

We converted the engine and couple the driveline as part of a projector for our mechanical engineering. We cut an old E34 gearbox up, and made an adapter plate for the transum. The coupling for the transum is mounted by 3 bolts. We meassured the center of the flywheel on the E36 engine, and drilled 3 holes, and threaded them.

very cool.. i have a dream of repowering a 35'-37' boat with two bi-turbo Audi V8's or a 27-30 foot boat with two bi-turbo 2.7 Audi's v6's ..way smaller and lighter than the huge fuel drinking GM big blocks everyone seems to use ..and a lot of HP n TQ

We are sailing inshore, with a support boat, on a clear day :D If you swim 100m, from where we were sailing, you would be able to stand on shallow water
