There can be speed limits at a Autobahn! "Certainly, speed limits do apply at junctions and other danger points, like sections under construction or in need of repair. Speed limits at non-construction sites are generally 100 km/h, 120 km/h, or sometimes even 130 km/h; construction sites have a usual speed limit of 80 km/h but may be as low as 60 km/h or even 40 km/h. In Germany, more than 57 percent of the motorways don't have any speed limit. Just an adviced speed limit, which is 130km/h (81mph). Moreover, I always take that motorway (A2) when I go from Paris (France) Warsaw (Poland). When I drive 200km/h (125mph), there are always people overtaking me.

Normally all JDM cars are limited to 180 km/h (110 mph), but a stock unlimited Skyline reaches 270 km/h easily. A stock BMW with the power to exceed 250 km/h is limited to 250, while the limiter can be removed without difficulty.

It was the day before this certain stretch of the A2 around Hanover was restricted (at least during rush hour). Can you see the electronic bridges over the 'bahn all 3 to 7 kilometres? They indicate the speed limit electronically, so that speed can be adjusted to the traffic density. I can't tell you if it is a fixed or flexible speed limit, but anyway, the traffic density makes speed above 140 km/h nearly impossible on normal days.

The initial problem why cargo transport was then put onto the road, was because trains could not go everywhere where trucks can go. Finally, you would still have to transport goods by truck from point A to B where the train cannot go. So, lastly we would not be able to get all of our trucks off the road, but perhaps the most of them. Extenting the railway system would also benefit normal ICE passengers because newer and better networks would be available to them.

Impressed with your driving but be careful. At that speed any tiny mistake will be horrific. I'm getting scared just watching this video. I did the same thing on the A2 near Hannover on the way to Poland, last September at night in my Audi S3. I hit about 165mph top speed. Recently I had a bad accident in England (shit country roads - A623) broke my right shoulder for life. Car was a total loss.

Erstmal Kompliment für Ihre vortrefflichen Deutschkenntnisse. Was Sie meinen, ist richtig.

I intend to own one of these cars eventually, and do exactly what has been shown here, wherever I can. Remember People, Power Is Life.
Autobahn driving as it's ment to be. Great video.
Wow! Great driving footage! What was the day and time while you recorded the video? I've never seen such an empty autobahn.
Fein Fein, ich wünschte mein 90ps e36 wär so schnell :)
Hey! :) I have a problem whit my bmw 850, it dosent run properly, when i start it up in morning. and wen the engine getting normaly hot, then one of the sixer dai... ? (ded) Eny one how know what the problem is...?? (PS, M70 5,0 l) norway.
Montana speedlimits are now like 70 miles an hour but there used to be no limit in the 90s. They banned it again because of too many accidents.
my hero
im not sure but i think i read somewhere that in the US state of Maine there are no speed limits on the "autobahn"
@bored2kGER Sollte z.b.
THIS IS GERMANY ;) btw, A2 has sectors that with limited speed, the major part of the route is still unlimited or has dynamic speed regulaton.
we need this in AUSTRALIA
Impressed with your driving but be careful. At that speed any tiny mistake will be horrific. I'm getting scared just watching this video. I did the same thing on the A2 near Hannover on the way to Poland, last September at night in my Audi S3. I hit about 165mph top speed. Recently I had a bad accident in England (shit country roads - A623) broke my right shoulder for life. Car was a total loss.
what is the fuel consumption at full throttle ?
wat type of car are u pushin?
the 155mph limit was a gentlamen agreement ... from a time tires were not able to go higher speeds without any problems. Till the 1990´s there were no real high speed tires able to deal with heavy high power fast sedans for long distance high speed runs.
Awesome, I reckon average speed is around 260, with peaks up to 290 (as a BMW 850 Csi without limiter can reach a top of around 300 km/h).
In Argentina, although not legally permited, there are many roads you can safely put your machine to its limits and I did it with my BMW E34 (though not as fast as this 850)
Looks amazing and fun!...But can you imagine a dog or deer crossing that raod??..Damn!!!
thats true. Im German but live in Canada and sometimes when i go to the states, i just get frustrated on the road. Americans just dont know how to drive. The switch lanes for no reason and dont check the mirrors, they block you, they drive aggressive. Canada has the same problems but not that extrem. Anyways, happy new year to the UK. you are already in 2010. Im still in 2009 for another 3 hours.
How much fuel this consumption on this speed?
@8stewiegriffin no not really. We used to have a volvo 940 sation wagen and it was able to cover about 500km at 200kmh average.
@jostorama Tell me, how can you compare and even mention a crummy Toyota Corolla on this video?
The Autobahns are still not wide enough to guarantee quick driving during rush hour. I think that Autobahns should always be 2x4 lanes around and between cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants, which would make driving also very relaxing.
Was Sie meinen, ist richtig.
Note: I did NOT read all of the quotes...(most are garbage) so I'm not sure if anyone brought this up...basic math skills tell us he is no where near 300kph...25 miles in 9.5 minutes is an average speed of about 157mph...a tad short of 300kph...Still love a 850 though...very sweet.
