Just got a 2018 520d touring and its freaking great. I had the older F11 model and i was so happy with it i just upgrade the model.

The under floor storage is a great inclusion, especially with the gas strut holding it open as is the split tailgate. It would be great if they also had storage space for a laptop or 12.9 inch iPad in the front compartment, it certainly won’t fit in the glove box and unlikely to fit in the armrest I would think. It would be ideal if you could slot a 15inch laptop into the side of the central drivers armrest.

Love station wagons, more than SUVs

None of the reviewers are mentioning that you can fit three child seats on the rear bench... this makes this car a desirable alternative to a people carrier - if like me you have 3 sprogs... More cars like this please!!!

They have improved every generation so yeah, it makes sense after 15 years that even the journalists like it.

Why every reviewer claims that it looks just like the previous model is beyond me. It looks a lot more like a 7 series or a 3 series than it looks like the F10...The F10 looks bigger and more stately, the G30 looks sporty and nimble in comparison. Must be me...

Nice video and agreed less is more, so many gimmicky options nowadays which cost more. Keep it simple.

I would go for the BMW 530d xDrive M Sport Touring with Sport automatic transmission.

I have commented on this a few times under their videos. They use these shitty filters and it is very annoying, as it changes the car colors and you can't really see the real ones. This is not Instagram!

Why no reviews of the 5 series touring ever talk about what to expect if 'upgrading' from a 3 series touring. I'm thinking about switching from a 330d touring for the increase in size luxury etc but what's the difference in driving experience?

This is by far my favourite interior colour scheme and wood finish, but you would really want to make sure your dog couldn’t get out/squeeze through from the luggage/boot area, that cream/ivory colour would not be compatible with muddy paws. 😱

yes they do, ive seen lots of f10 where the door switches,stop start button...theyve become white...the symbols have completely rubbed off

BMW's need a big revamp.. they haven't changed much in the last 10 years, that goes for Mercs too.

He mentions a 525d which they don't do in that engine now

Both the display key and gesture control are optional. There isn't much point moaning about an optional extra you don't have to pay for if you don't want it. Just don't select either. Problem solved.

The sensor to raise the volume is in the screen, so you have to make the movement in front of the screen and you will see that it isn´t slow to respond!!!! You just don´t know how to use the system

Sir_J these road testers use the highest manufacturer figure to compare to their mixed driving, acceleration tests etc and then claim the car doesn't get close to the claimed figure. My 320D can get up to 62mpg (uk), on the highway, which is very close to the claimed figure. Some owners of 335D xdrive models, which have over 300hp and are obviously AWD claim to get in excess of 55mpg (highway) in ecopro mode. This 520D will get 60+mpg cruising on the highway in eco pro mode.

I don't agree with this opinion at all, touring cars always seem to appear bulky and ugly to me, they can't ever match the overall package of a Gran Coupe. I feel the 3 series GT however is the best value compromise, not too bad looking but overall the most underrated car ever

It is basically the result of a mad night between a 1 series, an X1 and an X5. And god it looks awful.

It annoys me when these car journalists say ‘you can just about fit 3 people in the back’ there’s loads of room, I can cram 3 people in the back of my 2005 clio and not hear a complaint. Grow a pair and stop being so Tory

I really dislike the way the German manufacturers have taken to making their infotainment screens look like third party after market add ons. The opening shot from the side makes the screen look like it's a cheap tablet attached to the dash as an after thought. Why can't they just build them in to the dash itself??

Haha, actually they teach you to sit closer in every bmw driver training. Because you have more control over the steering wheel. It‘s also more relaxing to drive because you don‘t need to bend forward. They teached us, that your handwrist should rest on the top of the steeringwheel, while your shoulders are on the seat and not stretched forward...

Get your facts right. Volvo is selling like crazy. And Volvo definitly deserved to be mentioned among these cars, that's how good they've become.

You'd need your head read to pick a white interior. It's 🤮🤮🤮 Resale value wouldn't be flash either I'd say.

Jan Akkermans No, i dont say that bmw makes bad cars, but there is stuff to improve (and they could have done a better design, because its the same design as before... Which is now boring), but its the same with a Tesla lots to improve, like the quality you said. Autopilot is a helpful hand on longer trips, i dont use it on a hour drive for example or on country roads, and yes all have opinions about Tesla and I agree with you that its a computer on the road and its not the most "exciting" thing in the world. But it has a good interior with fine quality
