You need to watch some of Lovebites' live performances which many people think are better than their studio recordings. Check out 'Set the World on Fire', 'Break tge Wall' 'Holy War', 'Frozen Seranade', 'Spellbound', 'Edge of the World', and 'Swan Song' (with the piano intro) to see how they perform live. Thesse women (and dozens of the other all female Japanese hard rock & metal bands) rock harder than many male American & European bands. No country is keeping the flame of rock burning quite so brightly as Japan. The number of great bands is staggering, the level of virtuoso musicianship is ridiculously high and the number of kick-ass and bad ass female rock musicians and all female and women-fronted hard rock and metal bands is unrivalled anywhere else in the world. Check out Nemophila, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Hanabie, Band Maid, Bridear, FateGear to name but a very few.

It's usually a good measure of how a band sounds live compared to in a studio setting, I'm usually impressed when a band sounds exactly the same in both settings, but hearing that Lovebites is "even better" live oh boy is this getting me excited!

They are even better live. Heavy metal, power, progressive, thrash, rock ballads-they play it all and with such precision, diversity and talent. These girls have not even one bad song. Dual guitars shredding all the time, drumms and bass too, vocals are great... Lovebites is the best metal band in the world right now. You aint see nothing yet... Hold on to them and enjoy the ride...

summer of 1998 was when I decided to dive head first into the rock/metal world, I was a preteen back then, I've had long hair that I headbanged with, have been in a long list of metal bands back in my hometown as a bassist, I for sure have the eyes and ears to digest and make comments on good quality bands, I've seen a fair share of not so good musicians in the genre so I can easily tell when there is real talent there! I can't wait to check out more of Lovebites! Thank you for the original suggestion!

These ladies have two sorts of song in their repertoire..awesome brilliant songs and musical masterpieces. (They don't do mediocrity) This one was one of the former. It's nowhere near being my favourite of theirs but it is still a superb song. I wouldn't over emphasise the Christian element to this song however. They are not Christians, to the best of my knowledge, which would be highly unusual in Japan, and this is not some sort of "faith" song They do, however, borrow heavily from different cultures and philosophies including Christianity, Nordic legend, Greek mythology, Buddhism, Shintoism, Gothic symbolism and even Satanist imagery. My interpretation of this song is that of a person searching for themself during a dark time. The church in this instance (that church in the video, by the way, is actually a wedding chapel in Japan and has been used by multiple bands for their videos) represents a person's inner soul and the journey, through suffering, that inner kernel within oneself. The critical line in the songs is "Learning to love yourself, It is the greatest love of all." The band has said the song was written during the darkest days of the pandemic when many of us were left alone with only our own company and had to learn to live with ourselves. This song represented the way out from the darkness to the light in the center of our being.

Ok, you discover Lovebites, and they are reeeeealy great. But, Japan in this moment rule rock and metal scene. And most of bands are full female. Some suggestions: Band maid (hard rock, funk, pop punk, and so many more, and sometimes all of that in one song) songs: Play (exchanging solos between guitar and bass), Domination, Freedom (drumm solo)... Mary's blood (heavy metal) World's end (MV), Promised land (live) Gacharic spin (funky-disco-rock - high energy music, and non-stop slap on the bass) Mindset (MV), Hunting Summer (live), Redline (live) Galneryus (power metal) - Angel of salvation (live, there is 17 minute version with orchestra, worth of every minute) Unlucky Morpheus (technical melodic speed metal) - Black Pentagram (MV), Angreifer (live), Cadaver (live) etc.......

In almost 40 years of going to concerts there have 3 drummers that have impressed me are Cozy Powell, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy! I have seen many female drummers but there is one that impressed me immensely was at the Rock Au Château 2015 and she is Senri Kawaguchi! She is a cut above any drummer I have seen male or female. She is in the bracket of the three aforementioned artists, as for the four that was mentioned only one is heading that into that acclaimed bracket and that is Haruna!!

So much to say. Where do I start? Lovebites are definitely the real deal. There is a lot of live footage available and they are just as good live. You mentioned DragonForce and they have actually toured the UK together with DragonForce. Also nothing against Babymetal, but I wouldn't compare the two. Lovebites are an organicallly-formed band (formed by the bassist and the drummer), they write their own songs and they play their own instruments. All members have been involved in the music industry for many years. They also don't exclusively play power metal, but also thrash metal, more classic rock-sounding songs, ballads and even some proggy stuff. You won't find a single bad song from them.

oh don't get me wrong, believe me i understand those two bands do not belong in the same room together, I'm willing to bet Babymetal is a designed product, where as Lovebites feels and looks legit and not a product of a label at all, but a band of real talented musicians! I can't wait to explore their catalog of music!

Seriously they even better love and not many bands u can say really do that I look forward to the live shows for you to truelly experience

thank you both for this great reaction. it is obvious, that they are relentless master musicians with tons of charisma, energy, poise and power. but not many realise so quick, that maybe their greatest asset is their songwriting. in five years they made a catalogue of around 50 songs. and there´s not even one bad one or a filler. they can write metal that can touch you emotional. on 22th of december they release a best of album with 21 tracks chosen by fans and one new song (nameless warrior kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6VmtMpumLC2g7g.html ) and they are in hiatus (marriage, baby one member left, but they want to come back. as next on I recommend Holy War tokyo live 2020 they were founded 2016, singer asami came from R&B and had no contact to metal before. in 2018 they won metal hammers award for best newcomer band and playd wacken as first all female band the same year. they are something else.

Yes, I've seen one or two people who actually make the sad-ass sexist assumption that just because they're cute women they must be dubbed, right? They couldn't possibly play at this level, 'cause they're female, right? I'm glad that Lovebites do their part in overcoming that kind of prejudice.

yes, this is why I made this comment, I know I would've had this impression back in my obnoxious teen years where I would've misjudged them just by their appearance, I would've easily doubted this was real, so I'm sure there are many people today that would still be doubtful. But in the present day I love to shine a light on high quality and good bands that deserve the praise and recognition they deserve for years of hard work!

Haruna is awesome take nothing away from her. But there is a female drummer just as good if not better in a band called Band Maid. You might wanna check them out, make sure your partner sees them too.

Well if you want more great world class women drummers try any of the many all female J/Metal bands (see the list below) as well as some of the great female Japanese Jazz drummer that will blow you away. As for Lovebites the most insanely talented band and you haven't heard them yet until you do them LIVE!! They play BETTER LIVE, yes I said BETTER. They have only been around since 2017 but have exploded on the scene and but for the pandemic cancelling their world tours they would be dominating the music world and not a hidden gem on YT. They wear their femininity proudly as they are all petite thus the white dresses and high heels (they play LIVE in them) to stand out from other bands and be seen easier on stage. While I agree power metal drumming can be stale but did you not listen to the complexities of what Haruna was doing? I'm a bass player myself and the most interesting player in this band is Haruna. You will see.
