About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

That bass has murdered me. Goodbye everyone
The bass! Alex is underrated as a bassist imo

IMHO, it's his tone, and how it's mixed that we love, not his talent. His bass part is so simple that we can't tell if he's exceptional or a good hobbyist. Just my opinion. -Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

@@edouglaspratt @edouglaspratt The Bassline is perfect. Alex came up with it and nobody else. That is 'talent'
Warms my heart to see only positive comments about this song. I remember over a decade ago, there were people saying this was the worst Blur song. Never understood the hate. Not to mention the riff is an earworm.

People still say it's not a good Blur song. But I love it. I guess without Graham Coxon, it's not much of a Blur output...not the Blur we've come to love at least...but that still doesn't mean it isn't awesome. I really like the slow-burning structure of this song, and the wacky melodies and combination of sounds. Also the sax.

One of best Blur songs imo
Think Thank maybe not the popular one. But it's a deep one.
The bass is awesome. One of my favorite Blur songs.
I remember this being one of my favourite Blur songs when I was a teenager. I had being playing drums for maybe a year and my brother had also started to play guitar. We had one of those 'mobiles' as a music room at school. We both met up in there one lunchtime and just started jamming this, just the melody part, over and over and over - we couldn't play any other part of the song and it must've sounded absolutely dreary to anyone else walking by - but it was the first time I'd ever jammed anything with my brother. Anytime I hear it now, I am instantly back in that room. All tense and with rigid movements on the high hat and snare, barely holding it together. Must be nearly 20 years ago. Great song.
i get so relaxed when i listen to this song.

This one and Bustin' and Dronin' are masterpieces when they sing or make references about rockets or something related to the space.

maybe because this was the very first Blur album with Gorillaz influence already, especially without Graham on the guitar and 13 hadn't that vibe yet. a weird comparation, but this is rhcp's 'one hot minute' without john frusciante ;D

This song gives me "The National Anthem" (by Radiohead) vibes... The dominant bass, the electric touch and the kind of jazz vibe at the end... I don't know... I might be wrong

Blur hangs on to those Delta Blues-Heavy Rock roots with such new-wave nuance. Not my favorite band but Gragham Coxon's gone on to become one of my favorite power pop musicians. Up there with Michael Penn. Doug Pratt, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
