BLUEY THEORY: The Evolution of Dogs in Bluey Explained (Why do Man Made Dog Breeds exist in Bluey?)

Ойын-сауық

The evolution of Bluey dog breeds is one of the biggest Bluey theorys but thanks to the episode Flat Pack, Movies and a few other we mayve have solved how Bluey evolution happened in their universe.

I agree to some extent. I'm an environmental studies student, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how evolution actually works. It is not deterministic, so for instance, the wolves seeing monkeys using their thumbs and trying to do the same; that is a learned trait, not something generically heritable. Instead, opposable thumbs would have had to become a mutation in dogs that then gave dogs with this mutation some sort of advantage (either in sexual selection, fitness, individual survivability, etc) so that the wolves with thumbs would reproduce more than the ones without and/or they didn't die as much because they had the advantage of thumbs. Hope this helps!

Lol, fun exploration but FWIW, human uprightness stems from a very tiny change in the shape of the base of our skull where the spine connects, unstooping our posture compared to the other great apes. It's the first bone to form during development and sets the angle of the neck and spine underneath the head. In quadrupeds, this connection point extends straight back from under the skull instead. The rest of the skeleton essentially comes online in alignment with this direction/shape. So in the Blueyverse, that could have been the shift, a combination of incremental mutation in the attachment point of the spine creating more upright postures and freeing up the forelimbs for manipulative tasks. Dogs already do a lot of pawing and puzzling, which could have really taken advantage of that anatomical rearrangement. Add in some degree of polydactyly that could be selected for if it improves manipulation of the environment, and you're on your way to Canis erectus and Canis sapiens.

Is his theory the one about how the Anthropomorphic Dogs in Bluey were descended from primates. I mean, that part of his theory isn't that far-fetched (admittedly, I did not buy most of it, btw) because, we humans are descended from primates too for real life. So, in the Bluey-verse, because dogs are basically homo-sapiens, it would make sense for them.

I definitely think they did not evolve from apes. Im incredibly into speculative biology and theres no way an primate could evolve to be so similar to dogs. Convergent evolution (when 2 unrelated groups of animals evolve similar traits) does happen, but never with such similarities. On the other hand, canines evolving to walk upright is much more plausible. A much more reasonable theory is that an early canine evolved to be a tree dwelling canide, around 35 million years ago, around the same time most modern primates evolved in our world. When forests and jungles started turning into savannah's, the same pressures that pushed our ancestors to walk upright effected these tree dogs. They started walking on the ground more, walking more upright, and eventually, evolving possible thumbs and hands to interact with the world. Simple (its really not i know) Bluey and bingo just said monkeys because they didn't know the name of that tree dog ancestor (I.E. bluey and bingo are idiots)

i'm thinking, since many animals that are normally on two legs, often get up on their back legs to move around a little easier, the dogs in the bluey universe did the same. over time, they adapted the muscles for walking like that and they eventually found it uncomfortable, to carry things in their mouths, so they started using their front legs like arms. dogs do have a thumb claw, it's just shorter then animals like rodents. what i'm curious about is the lack of representation of the most iconic animal in Australia, other then the dingo, the koala. wasn't the show blinky bill, recorded in a studio in Brisbane?

I would imagine if the ape ancestors never took the niche that they did to eventually evolve into humans, in the Bluey world the canines would. I think that humans only lived long enough to make a little bit of technology and then the dogs had to learn how to survive on their own Which is why they have technology same as today is age so it can’t be based on today’s future. I think that flatpack is really just a game the kids played.

This would be like how both sides of my family are very detailed-oriented since I have: an accountant, a editor, a needle-pointer, and a former teacher as grandparents). Why have a dog that literally has a breathing disorder if it's meant to have positive traits from a family line?

@@JamesDavy2009 I might believe that if the actual Queen of England in Bluey was a Pug or something, but the only Pugs we see in Bluey seem like everyday dogs. So, it doesn't make sense unless they lost their royal status or something.

I have an idea that are world is in the same world just on the other side of the solar system but how can this work? Well humans probably could have put multiple dog breads female and male and they had pups and some how they eventually went upright and the humans couldn’t handle the journey so they died and left there human things and they used it to make things like houses and cars and eventually drowns

I would just like to remind everyone that evolution is also just a theory. It probably is true, according to the evidence, but everyone seems to treat it as fact.

That's because a scientific theory is a proven fact as opposed to a scientific hypothesis. There still exist holes in a lot of scientific theories, but that doesn't mean they're wrong (as Stan Marsh points out)-astrophysics still uses two contradicting theories (general relativity and quantum mechanics) to explain our understanding of the universe. You can see evolution on smaller scales through the studies of viruses and bacteria. It's how the SARS virus from 20 years ago evolved a variant that caused the more recent pandemic and it's how superbugs came into existence through our mania for cleanliness.

What if the characters in Bluey aren't actually dogs at all? What if they're actually human, but fictionalized to be portrayed as dogs! Because now that you mention it, it really doesn't make sense for dogs to evolve this way, especially considering all the man-made breeds. Now my headcanon is that the world where the events of Bluey actually happen is our Earth with human children and parents, then someone takes those events and animates them in a world of talking dogs with some minor changes to make some things more in line with canines. There is a hidden layer of Bluey where the characters are actually humans, but when shown to us, they are converted to canines!

@evangeloevoxi More that there's an extra fictional layer between us the viewers and the world shown in the bluey show, where the events of the show actually (fictionally) happen, but with humans, before converting the events and stories to animated canines for our viewing pleasure. It is a bit convoluted, I grant, but it seems like the best way to explain away certain incongruities and inconsistencies in the worldbuilding, without labeling them as outright mistakes.

There's a better, more realistic way, to explain how the wolves evolved to dogs in the alt world. Dogs today are Already beginning to learn how to use their paws in a more dexterous way, my own dog Holds up toys with her paws and manipulates her digits to get a better grip. As evolution goes, if that was a needed trait to survive: then that's how they'd evolve. The successful wolves with more dexterous hangs would live longer and produce more. Over time, that trait would become more and more prominent, leading to hands. Hands cannot support the full weight of running and the force that would ve exeted onto them if running in all 4 limbs. The wrists would crumble, the digits would snap. As hands became needed and unable to support such motion, so too does the need to move in that way less. Having highly evolved brains and being able to use tools also likely meant they were farming their food and didn't Need to chase it down. As wolves became civilized, they eventually started taking on similar traits to those around them. Forming different breeds in different parts of the world, until we get to the current bluey time when civilizations are mixing
