I really like the idea of just adding the one chromatic note to the diatonic scale and working the shit out of it , that's good clear structured teaching and makes a lot more sense than much of what I've been hearing from others

Besides basic major, minor scales, the blues and pentatonics were the first things that I learned in my early years of playing. I could hear these sounds in my saxophone heros solos. In those days my playing was limited to these scales. The blues is a great springboard for learning improvisation. Once again you are so on top of this Dr Wally. I wish you could have been around 50 years ago bro. I probably would have had a better insight into improvisation.

You forgot the most important part though you executed it perfectly. The smug end of solo look. Yes that was sax and you should be suitably impressed. Anything you heard that was uncomfortable was artistic interpretation above normal understanding. We now return to our regularly scheduled notes.

This is the best material and approach to this topic I've found. My teacher has a tendency to move through material quickly and I often find myself in the state you describe of barely being able to keep up with chord changes let alone soloing in an attentive and controlled way. On a separate note, are the PDFs for these blues lessons available anywhere? I'm happy to pay for this kind of material as a PDF package (similar to Chad LBs PDF packages).
