Blueprint for SUCCESS? With all due respect Mike Morgan.

Ойын-сауық

I truly believe that Mike Morgan is one of the hardest working fellows on KZread- he inspires me, motivates me, and often ecumenical- but today, I felt I had to discuss some shortcomings in is recent video- with all due respect, of course.

That’s the fun part about being in the wood business there’s so many different ways of doing it . Around here there are folks that do it both ways an no one can produce enuf hardwood.

Hi Jeff!!😀😀 I'm impressed with how great of milage your new truck is making. That's awesome buddy. You can actually make a little money with getting that kind of milage. I've known Mike Morgan for several years and shook his hand a couple times. But he has rubbed me the wrong a couple times in the last couple years. Too the point that I have almost completely quit watching their videos. I really like your business model very much!!😀😀👍👍 If I were doing firewood full time. I would definitely be trying to have my business set up just like yours. The less you touch the wood the more money you will make. Take care my friend!!😀😀💚💚 Logger Al

95 % of my customers are last-minute shoppers looking for seasoned wood.I have to run a stock pile each and every year. Slowly educating people in my area. Awesome video!

Respect Mike Morgan as well, a few things to remember, where he is in PA, very different climate to ours, different wood, nice straight hardwoods, where agricultural fields used to be now big oak, cherry etc. he would not be able to have that model if he was on the east coast here in NS. Boy what fuel mileage on that Ram wow. Take care

400 cords that’s a lot. Congrats on the truck sounds like a nice machine. I’m in the seasoned wood game but I’m hoping to be around 50 cords for next year. Trying to get the most for each cord picking up a lot of the green wood guys customers. Still figuring out as I go. Take care brother happy thanksgiving.

I couldn't imagine storing 400 cord of wood for a year, for next year. I think you're being more transparent than these other channels and their expert advice. Kenny

I totally agree with the fact that there is more than one way, or at least more than one business model that will work!! I also watch almost all of Mike's videos, and have come to the conclusion that at times we will agree to disagree!! That being said, until recently we were all of us were allowed to have an opinion, but now it seems like the very second that we don't agree 100% with someone, that they no longer can be friends!! Mike's model and methods maybe work for him when almost all of his wood is from his own land or free, but I agree with you that if you have to buy and store over 50 full cords of wood, that is almost impossible!

Someone say my name? 😀 There are as many ways to sell firewood as there are types of customers. Figure out the customer you want to cater too and arrange your business model to cater to it. In my experience, there are four types of firewood customers; two main groups and each group has two versions. First, the 'prepper', those that order a year in advance. There are two versions of preppers. First, the 'green prepper' wants the cheapest wood (green) delivered usually in the spring. Then there's the 'tidy prepper', who order in advance but don't want their wood until the fall so they can pack it away out of site right away. Second, the 'consumer', those that contact you looking for dry firewood NOW. There are two versions of the consumer. First the 'forgetful consumer', they forgot to order and wait to the last minute to call. Second, the 'new to firewood consumer', they just moved into their house and need something to get them started. They all have their place in the business model. 'Seasoned'. The word makes me cringe. I prefer not to use it. I actually say to customers, the firewood may be seasoned but it may not be dry. We built our reputation on selling guaranteed dry firewood.

I’ve said the same thing about seasoned vs dry wood. I’ve been writing a video script about the different firewood customers too- great minds think alike!

I saw that video and you were the first person I thought of. Around here (West Michigan) most claim you're getting dry wood but it's usually cut up standing dead wood. I used to sell firewood and did as you do. Both models can be successful if as you say you're completely transparent. Amazing fuel mileage with that dodge. Great video

There are also different type of firewood customers. Those that burn recreationally and those that burn for home heating. Sounds like the majority of your customers are the latter. I suspect that majority of Mike Morgan's customers are the former

Having a year or two of wood stashed away is just plain smart- like having a full pantry and food stored to get you through a unforeseen rough patch. Sounds like your customers are cut from this cloth! Hardest working man on KZread??🇺🇸🇨🇦

I was trying to see if you had a trailer on behind, I assume so...wicked. We won't discuss my gas Silverdo, but my Honda CRV is only getting 6.5L/100. Not sure it would tow a balloon if it wasn't inflated with helium!

I’m talking about the measure of gallon- in Canada we use litres, and an imperial gallon is 4.546 litres or a US gallon 3.78 litres. We can’t buy a quart of anything here, except paint. Even oil comes in litres, 976ml…
