"So Supernatural" Lyrics:
Strange happenings
I could not hide
Felt the energy
She pulled me aside
She said "Don't worry now.
We can ride the tides."
Felt the pull of those burnin' eyes
Caught in a trance of time
Drawn together by the fire light
Lost in her magic spell
And playing the game she knew so well.
So supernatural
With eyes that glowed in the moonlight
So supernatural
Of potions and powders to make you feel right
So supernatural
Like a shadow in the candlelight
So supernatural
A vision of wonder all dressed in white.
And I wonder how long can this go on.
Midnight imaginings confusing reality
Caught in a whirlpool of one's own fantasy
Saying good goodbye to dull personalities
We are just victims of our own destinies
We let our minds take wings
And soar away
To where strange powers lie
There was more to her than met the eye.
So supernatural
With eyes that glowed in the moonlight
So supernatural
Of potions and powders to make you feel right
So supernatural
Like a shadow in the candlelight
So supernatural
A vision of wonder all dressed in white.
And I wonder how long can this go on.
She brought me up......she brought me down
The tables were turning, around and around
Over and over.......the music got stronger
Ups and downs I couldn't take it no longer
Draining my energies ‘till there was no more
Felt it was time to head for the door
But something must have gone so wrong
So supernatural
With eyes that glowed in the moonlight
So supernatural
With potions and powders to make you feel right
So supernatural
Like a shadow in the candlelight
So supernatural
A vision of wonder all dressed in white.
So supernatural
So supernatural
And I wonder how long can this go on.

I've always loved Blue Oyster Cult, and enjoy every album they put out to various degrees, but I have to say, this song is really something special. I know it's made from an older recording, and maybe that's why it seems to have a slightly out of time feel to it, but that really works in it's favor. It's almost like it came from an alternate universe version of B.O.C. where there were no falling outs between band members, and everybody is still working together with a common goal. The song is eerie, mysterious, and catchy with just enough Heavy Metal to give it some guts while retaining the melodic hooks of a great pop rock song. In other words, it's perfect. I look forward to getting my hands on this album when it drops.

I think he added back the musical diversity they lost when the Bouchard brothers left. When I was a much younger person I saw them shortly after Albert left and at the time I thought "Well drummers come and go all the time". But looking back that's where you can really spot a huge difference in sound, IMO. Buck and Eric have a certain sound to things they create, and there is nothing wrong with that, but Albert added a lot of variety and depth. I was listening to The Brain Surgeons one day and I thought "wow, if you put this together with BÖC you get old BÖC".

Their final studio album?!? Really? If true, I am truly saddened, but then again, I thought Club Ninja was gonna be their final studio album, and boy, was I wrong. LOL I don't know if the band reads these comments or not, but just in case, To any and all that have worked, in any capacity, with the mighty immortal force of nature that is Blue Oyster Cult, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my (loving) heart for the many years of true enjoyment that you have given to me, through your dedication, and holding true to your initial ideals. No one can ever say you guys sold out, and your constant touring cannot be easy. I am sure you have sacrificed much to bring your fans the joy and wonder that you do. Your influence on modern music is incomprehensible, surpassing most bands that get appreciated for it. I can't tell you how many times I have jammed with someone, and often playing a completely unrelated genre (like funk, or new age, etc) that, at some point, would cite you as an influence, or would unexpectantly launch into one of your tunes. Your music is truly held like a secret underground cult, and there are many acolytes, far and wide, that continue to propagate your influence, if not openly, then through their own creations, with visions of the light thatnever warms shining through, and references hidden here and there within their own works. You are truly amazing, and I am extremely glad I was lucky enough to be born into a timeframe where I have enjoyed you practically my whole life. There is no way I could ever repay you for all you have done for me, or helped me through, in my life, but I really want you to know how truly fucking appreciated and admired you all are. You are no longer a band, but more of an institution, and it is before this institution that I humble myself and offer my most sincere gratitude. Thank you! When I leave this earthly existence, I hope I can take a piece of your music with me to enjoy in the afterlife, if there is such a thing. Again, thank-you.

I'm surprised that of all of Richie's "Easter Eggs" dropped in this video as references to earlier BOC songs and symbols, nobody has mentioned that the mansion is surrounded by a wheat field...surely a reference to the Reaper's scythe, and wheat being prominently featured on other BOC albums (such as Cult Classic). Also, note that the windows are barred in the center of the mansion, a nod to "Astronomy".

Very cool song, with a definite 'Spectres'-era vibe. Blue Öyster Cult has been my favorite rock band for going on 45 years now, so this is quite a bittersweet moment.

@@davec3901it’s Rick Downey on drums so it was most likely Revolution By Night. However it really does sound more like something that would’ve been on Spectres.

The House of Imaginos. A bedtime story for the living, and ghosts. The lady in white. Coming to Bucks side, in his hour of needs. Truly a tribute to the band. The new members. And the original lineup. I can honestly say, "I can die now. And become a Ghost. The catalog is now finished! What more can come in the future..... But. Stand~by. They may surprise us-another time."

Great, and catchy song! It's stuck in my head, which is a good thing. BOC was always a sci-fi movie making band to me, I always loved getting the images of the songs as a movie in my head. Been on board since the early '70's and it's been a fun ride. Hopefully they'll be doing one last tour, and hit WNY. Oh yeah, love the Easter eggs in the video. Nice job Richie!

wow great music, great video, with all the mystical codes of BÖC (Joan Crawford coming out of the cemetery, the 4 winds bar with the medium bartender from the Agent Of Fortune album, the live car on your feet, on your knees, the castle of Baron von Frankenstein, the ghosts of the album specters, and of course the symbol of Saturn from BÖC 🪐) 🤘

I think the woman in the white dress might also be a partial reference to "Fire of Unknown Origin" as well. "Death comes sweeping through the hallway, like a lady's dress; Death comes driving down the highway, in its Sunday best"

@KurtisC93 could very well be. Btw, speaking of fire of unknown origin. I have a theory that stand and fight (from symbol remains) is a continuation of fire of unknown origin. There's a lot of parallels in the lyrics. "A fiery light, in the middle of the night, took away all that we knew." Sort of sounds like the same event from Fire of unknown origin.

The Anubis around 1:50 is also a nod to the cover of the Workshop of the Telescopes compilation. Eric's aviator shades are sitting on the bar at 3:00. The final rounded moon is reminiscent of the crystal ball on the Spectres cover. When the moon appears with the Kronos symbol earlier in the video it's just flat.

    1. I want to play the BOC house survival horror game. 2. I thought Richie did a good job with the concert footage and picking shots where it looked like Joe was singing the right words. 3. CGI Richie sitting in the house playing guitar while watching Buck footage was hilarious to me for some reason. I loved it. 4. The pan up to the bar with the fortune teller, Reaper and Joan (and Ghost?) was really cool.

You know point 1, the actual original BÖC mythology, I always thought it might make a great book or movie, but let's face it other than graphic novels that probably won't happen. But a video as a small project is getting more doable all the time. No you can't make Halo on a budget, but a role playing adventure, you probably could port the original mythos in to a pretty fun video game.

I think the bit with Richie watching Buck on TV is a nod to the music video for "Metalhead" by Blotto which shows Buck watching Blotto on TV.
