Your theory has no relativity :)
I can’t believe this came out over 8 years ago. I was in junior high at the time, and I watched this all the time. This video was why I played saxophone, not just big clarinets and being forced into jazz band.
remembering the blues Brothers with Blue Lou
he play'ed in the original blues brothers band. This man sure knows how to play!!!!!!!
Not just the blues Brothers guys. Original sax player for snl, and has played with basically everyone. From Clapton to bb king, Zappa, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, steely Dan, Lou Reed, Peter tosh. List goes on and on. Dude is a legend. You people only watch movies lol
Gosh is it 8 years since this event remember it well my son and i attended what a gent absolutely amazing session he spoke with my son young sax player in his infancy and then later at Ronny Scott's that evening, Lou seriously planted the seed for him to continue his playing while also funding the best Sax shop in town with his endless perusal of the best wind or electronic sax, should do the event again some time
From a fellow sax play, I can dig it!!!
Swwet hoooomeee chiiicaagooo... epic sax solo by lou !!!

I believe Bobby Colomby was the trombonist
I want to meet him!
Like, coolezzzz Villl man!
Lou is great here! The rhythm section should take note to play less and groove more. Less is more! Lou showed his high level abilities in the face of no cohesive rhythm.
Muito legal esse som!
super
we want more we want more we want more
Brabíssimo
Einstein does sax...?
Lou 'Blue Lou' Marini (sax), John Tropea (guitar), Eric Udel (bass), right?
Quien es el bajista? También se merece un reconocimiento
@capitanpepinillo

Eric Udel. Lamentablemente falleció en 2016. Bajista de Matt "Guitar" Murphy y sustituto de Donald "Duck" Dunn en la Blues Brothers Band desde 1998 o antes.
Such a monster
Que delicia de sonido, que tenor está tocando?, gracias

+CandyBaconBoy88 Not sure if this is what you're going for, but I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson Les Paul. I'm not so great with series, but I'm guessing it's a pretty high model. Here's my best guess: www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Custom/2015-Les-Paul-Custom-Electric-Guitar-517110.gc
El gran John Tropea a la guitarra, no? ¿o deberíamos decir el grandísimo John Tropea? Indudablemente no tiene el reconocimiento que se merece por parte del gran público.
what the hell!! some stupid ass commenter about the sax ophonist can't play!. …i thought it was a killer solo!!!! I enjoyed it!!!!
Very nice--gritty sound for sure :) He can obviously play the Saxophone REALLY well...WOW! But I think he could have used less riffs/licks in his Improvisation. As he started Improvising, he didn't blend in with the guitar players behind him very well. Michael Brecker once said if we can't play it in less than a fifth, then it's not worth playing.

+Michael Bishop The rhythm section were slavishly comping behind him and I think he tried to set a fire under it for the sponsor. It was probably walk in cold, no rehearsals, and the lack of drums effected the dynamic too.

He was the main gig and my sax teacher explained to me that the backing (if that's the right word?) has to follow the main player not the other way round. So maybe better to say that the guitar players didn't blend well with the real great sax player?

This guy does not know how to improvise. He's just playing random notes

I went to University of North Texas with Lou. He doesn't have a good rhythm section behind him. They weren't giving the soloist...Lou...a backbone. Trust me, when he was 21, he could scorch ANY sax player, trading 8s, right off the stage. And the old man still can.
