That's literally the best story ever. 'Hey, so what was your first at-bat in the Majors like?' 'Nothing special, just hit a HOME RUN OVER THE GREEN MONSTER!' :D

He promised his Dad that he wouldn't swing at the first pitch of his big league debut. He sure swung at the second one.
This was a much needed spark for this Jays lineup. What a great moment for Schneider and I don't think I've ever seen Kirk that happy. You can tell by his reaction they've been through it together in the minors

At most Kirk and Schneider played 44 games together in 2018. Not sure that’s quite to the level “been through it together in the minors.” Still, the sentiment is nice

@@345Taco I watched the game. Kirk was ecstatic. My comment doesn’t take away from that. My comment was just directed at your assumption that his reaction meant the two players had “been through it together in the minors” when they were only on the same team for 44 games out of the 6+ minor league seasons since 2017. Bo, Vlad and Biggio have “been through it together in the minors” as they played multiple full seasons climbing the ladder together. If anything, the excitement in the dugout could more have been attributed to cheering for a guy who was drafted in the 28th round(which MLB doesn’t even have anymore), almost quit the sport entirely a few seasons ago and was convinced to keep playing by a former teammate who had been released in 2019 and told him that he should keep with it.

Can we please talk about how good Manoah has been lately in tough situations? Away game WIN against the Mariners, where the Jays have historically struggled. Home game WIN against the Angels, where the Jays have historically struggled. And now a WIN against the Red Sox, who the Jays HAVEN'T BEAT THIS SEASON THUS FAR Give the big man credit. He struggled at the beginning, but he's coming back.

How good he is lately in tough situations? The last tough situation he was in he hit a guy in the face and then had to be removed from the game. I wouldn't call that "good". When was he in a tough situation here? The Jays had hit two homeruns before he even stepped foot on the field. 6.07 ERA over last seven games with only three wins all season, only lasted the league average of 5 innings for 8 out 18 games this year. four hit batters in last three games, If the Jays' bats hadn't come alive in this game he would continue to look just as terrible as he has all season. Next you're going to tell us that Kirk is a fast base runner.

@@jadger1871 Keep in mind that the Jays up until yesterday haven't beaten the Red Sox all season, and who are also a Team that are right behind the Jays in the Wild Card race. There was a ton of pressure going into this game, and Manoah did his part and pitched well, even pitched out of a couple tight situations. Yes, he wasn't perfect, but we can't keep expecting perfection from him just for how well last season went. He's a young talent, of course he's going to experience some down seasons, all great athletes do. All I did was take the time to highlight some positives, ya Negative Nancy.
Bats carried our pitching tonight and helped Manoah get going and more importantly get a much needed win. The Jays were firing on all cylinders tonight, really nice to see.

I was being optimistic when I said Schneider is going to give this lineup a spark but man I think he will.
D Schneider & D Varsho similar in height and muscularly built. Both impressive tonight with HR's !!!
How can u not think you belong in the majors when you hit a dinger in your first at bat at that level. Congrats David.
Damn the Green Monster was the place to be
so glad the Jays let their accountant hit
This Dave Schneider guy looks like Rance Mulliniks
congrats #Schneider (fourth Blue Jay to homer first major league at-bat) and #Manoah! (6+ in.) 💙
Yoshida got his hitting back, but the Red Sox lost. The outcome of this series could decide the fate of both sides vying for a wild card spot.😮

Does anyone know how meany first at bats have been knocked out over the monster?
This season is done for us Red Sox. I give up. A building season. Casas should be a designated hitter, NOT allowed near a base plate. Pitching stunk again. Joke fielding. Sickening last 2 weeks has been. The only 2 players we have thats any good is Duran and Turner. Could be another 100 years before Red Sox get back to a 'Big Papi Era' maybe.... possibly the end of Alex Cora after this season. Start afresh next year. It's all gone stale at Fenway.
Whit looking like Springer with the first pitch of the game Home Run!!
This was Valddy's best game in over a month. He hit .239 in July. He has 11 RBIs in the last 4 weeks!!! It is obvious what his problem is yet him and the staff are clueless!! Every AB should go like this. First 2 pitches look for something the pitcher can get over the plate for a strike. Fastball pitcher look for a fastball. DO Not swing at anything outside the zone you pick. Most Blue Jays look at the best pitch they are going to see the entire AB in the first 2 pitches.. If you get behind then protect the strike zone. If you are ahead then continue looking for a pitch in your zone. If you get 2 strikes then avoid swinging at low breaking balls. Those turn out to be automatic balls. Vladdy is horrible at swinging at 2 strike breaking balls off the plate in the dirt. The pitches he SHOULD be swinging at were thrown earlier in the at bat. The Jays are trying to work the pitch count to get into the bullpen. Why not just KNOCK the starting pitcher out of the game by getting hits and runs?!?!?
FSG need to spend money here and Liverpool too.
Jays look better after the break tbh before hand was just bizarre 20 run game = awesome then eventually end up receiving a no hitter from the tigers lol can't tell me that ain't out there, but now they seem to be getting more from their AB's even when they lose games and I'm not a jays fan lol
Need to get some people on base when jays hit the long ball, 5 Hrs all solo, nice for the Schneider to get his 1st major league home over the Green monster in only his 2nd swing at bat!🎉👏👏👏👏 Go jays Go!

Boston is on the verge of losing their 3rd series in a row! The sox only have 2 wins out of their last 7 games. That definitely won't get the job done.
This is the literal opposite of what the Sox need hahaha
So many homers!
Ooh fire baller Hicks looks good closing tonight.
Dodge a bullet today...you cant hit 5 HRs daily. You need to hit when RISP and minimize DPs. Kirk hitting behind Jansen is not a recipe of success. Flip Kirk with Chapman!
still can't hit with RISP.
The Red Sox front office were aggressive at the trade deadline dreaming about all the pitching they wish they had. Bloom and O’Halloran do us all a favor and resign. The team you’ve built is a joke.

10 ай бұрын
Yes but we got another 2nd baseman that we didn't need, let Arroyo go and got NO starting pitchers. Bloom and co. did the same thing at the deadline last year and it demoralized the team. Why?🤔🤥🤨
You're not gonna hit five home runs every game. What they can do though is what the new guy Schneider did in his second or third AB: hustle on a routine groundout and beat it out. Guerrero and Bitchette can learn something from him.
Ofc when we need to beat the jays we chats do it, 6-1 record is a fluke if we can’t beat them when it matters, someone has gotta tell them how important this series is, WAKE UP
GO JAYSSS
Would be nice if the Yankees gave us some help in Houston and I hope Bo Bichette isn't hurt for aa long time Wonder who will replace Ryu for next season
