This should be included in retreat after finals with ALL the top-12 corps getting in on it, similar to how America the Beautiful/Oh Canada was done... BUT the part for cannon needs to be included USING A CANNON. otherwise, very, very, very-very good. I have duck bumps!

We were there that night. First drum corp experience for the family and myself. We were pretty excited that we scored good seats up front when the family in front of us turns around, pulls out their ear plugs, and says "Oh, so you guys must be huge DCI fans too!?" We said, "oh this is the first time we've been to a show like this." They replaced their ear plugs, smiled knowingly, and turned around. When the contra-bass bugles did their contagion and got ready to play, I suddenly understood what we were in for. It was the loudest un-amplified music I've ever heard. It was awesome! But my kids were in tears from the shock of it.... Most people sat on the lawn at Tanglewood.

It was a choice of being here and seeing 2 corps , or going to Allentown same night ,and seeing 5 or 6 perform at Cadets show. that's why 1 empty seat was mine!

We watched the July 4th rehearsal show live in Boston at Hatch Shell and that gave us a true feel for the 1812 Overture and the significance it plays in Boston. The power of the music and the performance is off the chart. So when I watch this show the chills, goose bumps and tears can't be avoided. I'm proud of you my son, Kris Mason, thank you and your Crusader friends/teammates for the gift of music you give us..

There may not be any french horns in the corps but the beginning is played solely by a few ringers in white shirts in the back playing classic orchestra brass, at least two of which are french horns. There are sky mics in the back and that is one of the reasons we can hear the low tuba in the beginning so clearly, because the orchestra tubas' bells (there are at least two of them) are pointed skyward toward the mics.

This was majestic and magnificent that it vibrated my soul. My heart is bursting with joy and sadness as it reminded me of the past years of my marching days and when I too played my instrument. The memories that instrumentation evoke was truly precious and a blessing that can’t be replicated but can definitely become awakened into ones subconscious mind as this can bring happiness, sadness or an array of emotions that are amazing. The 1812 Overture brings about the most blessed experience I have ever experienced by this production and I am really happy to have heard this glorious journey by all of these two mighty corps!! Thank you to everyone who was involved. ❤️

0:49 The Crusaders bass drummer wearing glasses looks really disappointed his loudest, lowest tuba player lost count of his quarter notes and played a part two beats early when the rest of the ensemble was playing perfectly. I think it was a combination of him overblowing, playing a part two counts early and hitting one of the A-flats way off of pitch center a half step sharp, that lead to that visible disappointment. The Blue Devils girl to the left of the Crusaders bass drummer appears to contain a little chuckle at the flub, too. That part sounds awesome played fat and down an octave, though. It adds a lot. It isn't quite as clean and reverent as the rest of the ensemble but it still adds a lot.
