BLS EP10 - South TASMANIA | Muddy PELVERATA 4WD TRACKS | HIDDEN WATERFALLS & Mt WELLINGTON | Solar

From the capital city to the muddy tracks of its surrounds. We explore the southern side of the Tasmanian Island.
We check out the peak of Mt. Wellington and its (not so impressive) views. The kids enjoy ‘feeling’ the clouds and we drive some amazing winding roads on the island state.
Tired of the black top, we head out to seek one of the tallest waterfalls in the Hobart area with an incredible 114 meter drop.
But between power shortages and crashed drones, not everything goes to plan.
Tasmania, as with many parts of Australia continues to impress!

Great video Nathan. I was thinking to myself just how good the drone footage was in front of the car mixed with some great music. You really are giving it a good workout. Hope you get it sorted real soon. Cheers, Jim D

Thanks Jim, that drone was awesome at what it did, but I can confirm now that it is gone 😢 Damage was irreparable but I've replaced it with something similar (probably not better, but similar). I hope your travels are going well too 👍

With the cost going up and all the unexpected cost that you incurred along the way. Keep up the great work you have been doing. I have been enjoying your journey

Thanks so much mate, I really appreciate that, I really do. Things are going well for us now... thankfully, although we are a long way from Tassie at the moment. The episode will keep coming as I can get them out and I'm so glad that you have been enjoying them. It's much appreciated 🙏

Tassie is a beautiful place, if you can get past some of the people that live down there 😉🤣 Another great episode!

Hey Nathan. I understand you already know this but I highly recommend installing a battery isolator switch in your Anderson plug loom. In my case, I bought a ready made loom fitted with a RedArc SBI12 isolator already wired in (from Aussie Drifter Touring) and installed it myself being that it was dead easy. I now have the assurance that the batteries in the caravan will only begin to charge once my starter battery (my only vehicle battery) is fully charged. I eventually wanna take my family to Tassie on a caravan trip one day. I’ve been there a couple of times myself as a single bloke years ago and it’s an awesome place. I remember staying in Hobart and seeing the reflection of the full moon off the snow on top of Mt Wellington on a clear night - one of those breathtaking views you never forget 🤘

Absolutely and turns out, I've only just fitted one of the products from Aussie Drifta Touring just a couple of weeks ago. Fitted they're ready to install 4B&S loom with an ignition triggered relay which has been working well. The cables are huge! No chance of voltage loss over that. In addition to that, has to be one of the best quality kits I've seen for a while and absolutely everything was included for the install process, very impressed. Tassier sure is a special place. I've only captured a small corner of it and experience just a little more. I think you could easily spend a year there, travelling and exploring all of the little hidden secrets around the place! Your views that night would certainly be one to remember for a lifestyle, sounds absolutely amazing!

Great video guys, we had a similar experience recently with crowds. We were trying to re-live a previous trip from 2006, and wow how things have changed, from being alone in a camp near Cradle Mountain and also the same at Cockle Bay. We were warned not to venture to the Bay because of the crowds. It's great to see the kids really enjoying the exploring!!

Thanks mate, appreciate it. Can't agree with you more, it certainly appears to be the 'thing to do' this day and age. Regardless, it's still a whole lot of fun and the kids are getting priceless experiences from it! 👍

Thats typical Mt Wellington, I have been up there 5 or 6 times and only once did I get a blue sky day. The view is awesome though when the weather plays nice.

Yeah, I thought as much. Perfect weather around the capital, but just a giant cloud up there. Even the lower lookout was still very impressive, so could only imagine what the top outlook would be like. Maybe an excuse to come back sometime?

Thanks man 🤙 It's almost a flashback for us too, given that we are so far behind! So many memories. Great 4WD'ing down there, do have to admit I was a little nervous with a wearing CV, but the cruiser pulled through Tassie with little damage 💪 Not sure if Will can say the same though 😆

Great stuff guys. Tassie is an amazing place IMO. Question: why do you have two radio aerials on the bull bar?

  • @XploringOz

    @XploringOz

    11 ай бұрын

Thanks mate. So I actually run 2 seperate UHF radios in the vehicle. I know it's probably a little overkill, but has come in very handy when traveling in convey and both radios got used a whole lot in the Cape. I'll keep one of the local channel (generally Ch. 40) and the other on my convoy channel (when in convoy) or on scan to pick up other convoys around. In the Cape it was extremely helpful, but in other circumstance, especially when on scan, it becomes a bit of entertainment hearing some of the nearby chatter on small convoy channels 😆 Some people have raised concerns about the obstruction from the cab, but to be honest they become normal very quickly. Neither Teagan nor I even notice them at all any more... expect for those heavy corrugations where they bounce around like crazy 🫨

Hi, last time at Pelverata Falls, a wind up the valley was sending the falls back up over the top to fall as heavy rain. Lots of tracks in that area, Council water reservoir and old saw mill ruins with large rotting saw dust dumps to bog the local bogans. Cheers
