The excursion on some of these speakers amazes me. Incredible. Champs until the end....

It’s actually amazing how much power a speaker driver can take above it’s rated capacity before imploding. It’s funny because we all clench when our systems distort a little but in reality they are nowhere near the point of damage in those conditions.

I forgot to mention, don't take the dust caps off the voice coils. The dust caps pump air through the voice coil gap, allowing the speakers to handle more power for longer. That makes it more fun.

I like that classic 3 way cabinet look, but even a set of old 80's 3 way white van speakers will be way better than those fishers... The front of the box was a sheet of 1/8" plastic, I'm no audiophile but God damn, that's crappy sound! I came down here just to comment on that plastic.

Love how the little ones took more then the bigger speakers

This reminds me of when a car’s engine oil is drained and the throttle bricked in neutral to try and blow the motor. They run significantly longer than you would expect. The damage begins immediately of course but it takes a serious amount of abuse to actually stop it running altogether.

That voice coil wasn't very big. I think the reason is to minimize inductance, so the speaker can be crossed over at a higher frequency for the mid range. The only problem is that they won't handle very much power by today's standards.
