Whenever I play this, I get a mental image of a much happier Gherman waking up from the Nightmare, and sitting in a much sunnier version of his workshop. He has a bittersweet smile in that he is thankful to you for freeing him, but is saddened at how (as far as he knows) it meant you took his place as the surrogate for the Moon Presence. Though all in all he is happy and at peace.

Although it's possible that he is already dead - we know this from the Old Hunter bone that it might actually be from Gehrman's flesh and skeleton , at least from my perspective - , yeah , his spirit is now free of the dream and the sins. A bittersweet thought is that the spirit goes to unite with that of Maria , if you already killed her in nightmare. And I don't know exactly if there is after life in the soulsborne universe , but it's happy that way. You, on the other hand, you either are prisoner of Moon Presence until another hunter frees you, or you become baby Great One , who , when it grows up , it might want to reproduce ,right ? So , the other 2 endings I mentioned give me a taste of taking actual responsibilities , on the one , you guide hunters constantly, on the other there is still fear "stress" for ruling the damaged world and for actually wanting your offspring to survive. So , from my perspective: Sunrise ending: you get away and freed , but problem insists (egoist ending ??) Other two endings: selflessly you give yourself to solve , or manage to solve the problem.

I keep having this vivid image in my head, of the hunter after he chose to let Gherman kill him and return to the waking world. He may have lost all his memories, but the deep seated trauma of the madness he endured, the instinct-deep muscle memory he had to gain to fight beasts, the heretical arcane mysteries he unlocked...they're still there. Not consciously, but under the surface. He's damaged goods. I envision him suffering from PTSD he can't explain, with the sight of blood or the smell of burning hair/fur setting him to frenzied panic. Suddenly lashing out at people in the street who twitch in his general direction, or get too close, or touch him unexpectedly. He suffers from night terrors, and cannot remember a thing about his dreams. Maybe he travels the world, trying new religions, meditative techniques, or even narcotics to cope with his fraying mind. He'd give anything to know where this pain and trauma come from. Maybe he finds a sage to guide him through a hypnotic meditative trance, and the things the hunter says under the trance drive the sage mad, and when the trance breaks, the hunter has less answers than before. Man Alex, your music puts this shit in my head, and I LOVE it. Thank you again.

Damn that makes the happiest ending depressing. Not only do you live in a world controlled by gods and otherworldly beings without your knowledge, you're broken by events that never happened in your mind and are left with only the peices that broke off the vase that was your fragile brain.

@@blakechandler167 the happiest ending isn't that, it's the one where you become a great one. You rid the world of the moon presence, free gehrman, and lift humanity into its next childhood. I like to believe the hunter takes the form of their human self as a great one and continues life in a better world

@@ASmartNameForMe setting Gehrman free was happy enough for me personally. I was lucky and had his special sleep dialogue after killing Rom were hes begging for someone to help free him . Imagine his situation . He lost all idea of time as he is frozen in a endless night sending people usually to their repeated death, constantly reliving the same night in order to appease some high dimensional beast . His nightmares he begs for his old friends to set him free and escape something that he knows only has one way out

@@BestCupid yeah but I think the main character deserves a good ending too. We might not realise it because they never complain but they're the ones facing the worst hunt in history on their own, watching as the only sane people they call allies all die and go mad. Theyre put through death after agonising death, suffering mental torment no human should ever withstand, and still aren't allowed to rest. They still have use to the great ones. They really go through hell too, so I don't settle for just freeing them or gherman. I save him and myself

The hunter opened his eyes, slowly and drowsy. As if ripped from a pleasant dream, he took a few moments to get his bearings, taking in the fresh air of dawn; it was damp and cold, what with the long awaited morning dew coating most everything in crystalline drops. His hands were numb, as were his feet, and his neck was stiff. Slumped against cold stone, a chill ran through the hunter's body, his breath steaming in the cold sunrise. Sitting up, he rubbed his gloved hands together and looked around, sighting a statue wrought of marble , it stood on a cobblestone floor, slick with moisture and overgrown with weeds. All around him, grand buildings of pale stone rose high and proud, their sharp features thrusting up to the sky with their stained glass windows and copper spire'd towers. He knew this place. A bell chimed, well off in the distance, it echoed across the city. Once...twice...and it fell silent, after so many nights, finally, it fell silent. As the message was repeated the hunter struggled to his feet, fighting back the laughter, yet allowing himself a thin smile beneath his mask. Not unlike a proud victor, the hunter walked his first steps into the first day of the new world, savoring each moment of the hard earned peace. A world without beasts...a world without hunters...a world without Great Ones nor the Healing Church. A world with no more blood. The hunter strolled down the streets of the Cathedral Ward, eyes fixed in the horizon, he watched the sun arrive at long last as the harbinger of a new era, and he didn't want to miss one second of it. Lost in the beauty of the scenery, the hunter murmured words of closure to himself. "The night...and the dream...were long.........the hunt is over"

Imagine yourself on a deathbed, being over 90 years old. You can barely speak, you are surrounded by your family. As you breathe your last breath you whisper "The night... and dream... were long." And you leave your whole family with this mystery to solve

too much evil and suffering was inflicted in Yharnam to really put it 'back to normal,' but our hunter can act as a more benevolent Great One and help keep the vileness of others at bay

This makes me think of the doll pushing you in a wheelchair before saying the hunt begins again.

This should be the Yharnam sunrise credits theme.

'as dark as the night is, it makes a single candle all the brighter' a phrase that came to mind after listening to this and i believe it is very true for a song like this, as dark and tense bloodborne is it makes all the beauty that it holds much more clearer.

This is the perfect closing credits song for Bloodborne.

The Lullaby of Mergo being put in at just the right time. amazing. In fact I wish this actually appeared in game, it'd be too epic to hear it while generally being around the hunters dream, but maybe in one of the credits. Like, the ending where you accept Gehrmans proposal, this song would feel very mysterious like the full story isn't clear to you, which would match the ending.

Sweet dreams murgo, God when you understand every theme and what part of the game there from. Bloodborne may not be a souls, but it's darker than most.

the hunt is now over and the nightmare has ended, yet at the same time in the back of your mind you know it's not the end. the memories are still there, the raw emotions from hours, days, weeks, and months of trials and tribulations. and you know the beasts are still there, lurking in the shadows, never truly gone. one day, the nightmare will start all over again. the beasts, the Healing Church, the Old Ones, all of it will come flooding back. but when that day comes you'll be ready. that's what this piece conveys to me. it's both peaceful and sinister at the same time

Absolutely gorgeous. Makes me wish there was a happy ending to go with it. Where you and the Doll can leave the dream together and live in a house in the hills.

All I hear is Plain Doll's Theme. Excellent remix.

Oh the mergos lullaby slowly fading in the background is a gorgeous touch

This Track sounds calming, but it also has a deep rooted sadness that perfectly fits all that the hunters dream is, a place that on base level seems like a calm respite from an eternal nightmare, but if you look deeper it is also a prison that will never let you die in peace.

I've not played through bloodborne my self, but for some reason this remix sticks out to me, it is so good Also 1:07 Is sooo gooood

Wow, I love the parts where you can hear Mergo's Lullaby in there. This is a great remix, it captures the original while bringing new emotion to the table. However, in the actual context of Bloodborne I actually think it's TOO beautiful, TOO peaceful. That doesn't at all detract from the beauty of the piece, however. It's lovely, Alex.

TheTwilightmaster6 I had a theory that the doll was created by one of the hunters in the workshop and it was a replica of a lost betrothed. The doll sometimes prays at a grave in the dream and I wanted to assume she had some memory returning of who created her. I wish there was a bit more detail there in the game.

Bloodborne’s soundtrack was the first in a long time to give me chills and really make me feel something, then you release your remixes and original tracks and it’s just as amazing, if not more. Man if this was the actual credits to the secret endings, I think it would have been so perfect...it just catches it so well! You freed Gehrman from his eternal torture You killed the Moon Presence that was using Gehrman and to a certain extent you If you got the DLC, you also liberated all the Old Hunters from the hunters nightmare. And you ascend Godhood, bringing humanity to a new level while staying with waifu doll. This OST to finish all of that up would just have made for a 20/10 endings.

The Nightmare has ended... for now. As long as humans continues to show curiosity, there will be those who make a terrible mistake, as the Church had once done, and hunters roped in to solve it. But, for now, let us put that in the past, and enjoy a sunrise several hundred hours in the making.
