Watching this in 2020, we rescued a T- blood python from someone who couldn’t care for them anymore and he came in a tiny glass tank with heat tape across the entire bottom, no hide, a tiny dog bowl and mouth rot. Didn’t eat for months but he is finally recovering and looking great. We named him puppy and he is a ham!

Blood pythons seem like animals that if you respect them they will learn to respect you and understand you back

Thanks so much! I'm rescuing one soon, a beautiful guy that's been at our local shelter for a while. I'm afraid their going to get rid of him, yet I have to wait until the end of the week. The poor guy is the only snake there, and whenever I see him hes hiding in poor setups, if you follow these. I think you're right with the 'scary name' part. No one was ever interested with this one, not even when I showed my friends. I cannot wait to rescue him, I have everything set up for him.

Excellent advice Kevin !! It's so important for snakes to have a healthy air exchange in their enclosures !! People should approach their snakes in a comfortable manner so the snakes don't feel intimidated and don't feel like they are being forced into a vulnerable situation !! TOTALLY AGREE !! Snakes that have learned to trust through handling adapt to routines and they learn to trust and then it's easier for them to consider their handler a safe person to associate with :) Snakes are a LOT more perceptive and intelligent than many people give them credit for and I'm a firm believer in putting a snake in time out if they are acting arrogant until they chill out and they do realize that time out means calm down so they can be out.

Thank you sincerely :) I just love sharing my snakes with people and what they have taught me about each of them as individuals over the 55 years that I've raised snakes and I've always followed Kevin because he is spot on with his advice :o) Raising reptiles is a big responsibility if done correctly and the focus has to be on the animals and not the people :)

It's a normal reaction for most people and it's not uncommon for some snakes to throw mock strikes with their mouth closed merely as a way to let you know that the snake is feeling vulnerable :)

Hey I just have a couple questions how do you keep the humidity up in the bins ? Do you just use a big a nuff water dish or do you mist it as well? How do you do the ventalation in a tub as well ? I'm use tubes with lids on them if I drilled holes all the way around the tub would that be good ? Or should I drill holes in the lid as well ? Amazing videos by the way :) and of course mind blowing animals :) thanks for any advice you have for me.

Hi, I have to say that this snake is absolutely gorgeous. I am looking for my second snake (owned a corn snake for 15 years) and I am thinking of stepping into bigger snakes, and I'm thinking of either BCC, superdwarf retic or a blood python, but a blood python might just be it. I just love the way it carefully and intentionally observes its surroundings, as you said they seem really smart for a snake! I suppose that you don't ship blood pythons to sweden, or know any breeder that does?

Our Blood, who was about 2 y/o when we first got her and about 1/3 her current size, could be held easily. But NOW, she freaks out about being lifted and held. She is about 6ft long and 15 -17 lbs, so she just doesn't feel secure being held. We are very careful about supporting her body with both hands, but she's not having it. Any suggestions?

I feel bad for snakes kept in set ups like this. Yea they like to feel safe in there little nook but the whole set up is a tiny nook. They would prefer a moisture and temp gradient with some leaf litter and room to stretch out and move. But i guess when you mass produce them it’s easier on the keeper or breeder to just keep them on paper in a small shoe box.
