FROM CHRIS STEIN: "i realised today that a lot of people are JUST READING reports of what went down at the award ceremony and that makes a huge difference to their perception... beyond that some of these reports are taken second hand from other reports... so i can see that someone reading that the poor guy asked to play and debbie callously (a lot of editorializing goes into these things) told them 'she already had a band' might be taken at surface... just watch the damn show... if those guys really had wanted to play with us the first thing they might have done was to call one of us and ask... of course this never happened... do you know what did happen? a person from our managment pulled me aside and said: "you're not gonna believe this..." "what?" i said "...the old guys from the band?" "yeah..." "they called and said that they have a girl singer and a lawyer and they want to play blondie songs..." "yeah so? thats weird but fine with me." i said "WAIT WAIT! they called the hall of fame and said they wanted to do it on the show... the people from the show went ballistic!" so this conversation really took place... i dont know if any of it is true or not or much care... but i really mean it that if one of them had tried to speak to me in person... well i dont know what i would have thought even then but i certainly wouldnt have been mean to them or told them to piss off... debbie said the same thing... any of you who are pissing and whining about us playing without nigel gary or frank, just get this through your heads: none of them ever asked any of us if they could play with us at the event! that would have had to have happened as a first step... none of us was going to call any of them and ask them to do it i will say that... playing music is a very personal thing, any of you who have been through a divorce know the kind of intense shit that goes on... frank wasnt in the band for the last year of blondie before we broke up back then, we did two albums and had number one hits all over the world before frank or nigel joined bla bla bla... our real fans know the deal... i dont know what the hell else i can say... no matter how much any of us go over how we feel about the whole thing or what we think the 'real story' is somebody will disagree so ultimately my advice is to find something better to worry about maybe like events in the real world that have a more direct impact on our survival... " _ 2006

There is no way that Infante and Harrison should have been allowed to play. Some might say: "Oh well, they should've just for old times sake." I don't think so. They chose not to reform with the band and then had the audacity to try and sue the reformed band for royalties. And we're not just talking back catalogue. They wanted royalties for what the newly reformed band would create as well.

By that logic, Fred Smith and Billy O'Connor should also have a say. They decamped from The Stilettos at the same time as Harry and Stein. At the end of the day, it's the Hall of *Fame* so it would seem appropriate that the members during a band's most famous period should go it. Brian Jones was only with the Stones for 6 years, but nobody thinks of him as not being part of them, despite the fact that they have been 44 years without him - he was part of the classic lineup.

Saying that Frank and Nigel should play in Blondie's induction is the same as saying Pete Farndon and James Honeyman-Scott should rise from the grave and play in the Pretenders' induction (may both of them rest in peace). Frank and Nigel were not founding members, they sued Blondie, how can they expect to play? Blondie is not them, not anymore. Blondie is great and Debbie's voice is awesome.

Blondie is better than ever. I would just like to see Jimmy Destri back with the band, but I can't deny Matt Katz-Bohen's talent. The only reason they're not successful anymore is because they don't get played because of ageist radio. The same goes for the Pretenders. Break Up the Concrete is much better than most of the earlier stuff and Chrissie is the only original band member there.

First off, Molly did more screaming and hollering than she did actual singing. Blondie sings that song with a beautiful soft voice Molly acting somewhat like an animal and even dyed her hair blonde. As far as I know, Miley Cyrus has yet to write her own and record her own music. Debbie Harry is genuine and original.

Gay. Get the scabs off the stage and let the real Blondie play.

This scene is a good reminder that opinions are like rectums - we each have one. For my part, this was unnecessarily sad and ugly, and should all have been clear before anyone was on stage (maybe it was, and Frank/Nigel went 'off script'). Blondie isn't the first or last RnrHoF band to have gone through personnel changes, and to have more than current members onstage; others have found a way to play with both involved. IMO - Frank, Nigel, and Debbie all looked a little churlish, and have good reasons to look back at their behavior with embarrassment. None of them gets a do-over...

Should Sonny have been allowed to sing wherever Cher sang? 90s-and-beyond Blondie is a band that doesn't include Frank and Nigel, though they are referenced in the album title The Curse of Blondie, and they were thanked at this show for their contributions.

if they had really wanted to play that night, they would have contacted the band beforehand. the band was rehearsed and prepared. at least they were recognized for past contributions musically. cheers.

@@angelabaiers5055 it had nothing to do with original vs non original band members, and everything to do with them being much older.

Ok I listens again and her voice is still just fine I just didn't like this version and I still really hate her I'm above you attitude she took with her x band members while being presented with the award and her reaction to them asking if they could play since it was them not her new autnerage that was being inducted.

they were trashing her, they sued her, they wanted millions and they did that during the acceptance.... i don't know why in a two side fight you are only blaming HER. weird. nobody fights alone.

well, THIS SONG is disco, not the band. by your logic they are also a reggae band (the tide is high), or a rap/hip hop band (rapture), an "old style" band (in the flesh), etc...
