BLOG vs YOUTUBE CHANNEL: Which Should You Start?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Blogging and KZread are both crazy-good opportunities, and there's plenty of reasons why you might be interested in getting started yourself! However, they both take a fair amount of work, so it's tough to do both, at least initially. That means a tough decision must be made: Blog or KZread channel?
What are your thoughts on this? If you already do one or the other, or if you're planning to start soon, then comment below and share why you made the decision that you did!

I decided to start a YT channel and then embed the video plus add the transcript to the blog. Best of both worlds in terms of how people learn. I just didn’t take into account just how much work video creation would be. P.S. Your hair looks boss! Loving it!

That's the thoughts I had on this. If I'm doing all the prep work for a video, then it's not too much more effort to also embed it into a blog and write it up. Having blogged before but never done KZread, I could be totally wrong in thinking this going to work. Does it need to be one or the other? At least to start I'd like to have the option of both to work out which works best for my business. Ps. Just subscribed to your channel, Tara.

I think a KZread wins hands down, with a blog you depend on external traffic sources like Google which can be very competitive, a KZread channel however you have more chances of getting discovered through suggested videos and the massive amounts of ppl on the site daily.

Plus KZread is free, meaning you don't have to invest into it if..you already have the equipment such as: a phone/camera,mic, lighting or sunlight and video editing software. You can also find other editing software that are free if you don't have any money onto the pocket.

I don't see it that way. Since people are directly coming in to KZread, or watching your video that has been embedded on someone else's blog, technically that's an outside source. Also, not everyone who uses KZread has a KZread account. Last point, when it comes to KZread, it really depends on your nitch. Some platforms do better with certain subject matters.

How I see it is that a blog is for people who are comfortable to write only and publish what they write, a podcast is for people who want to talk only and don't wish to appear on camera or deal with any kind of video editing and youtube is for people who like to produce videos. So there are several means for people to publish content whether it is in written format, audio format or video format.

Okay first off, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair!! Gorgeous!! I've been doing the blogging for almost half of this year (from about late August till now) just (slowly) working on building my platform and Instagram, and I so agree with you- it's a LOT of work! Now that I'm earning enough money on sponsored posts, I'm going full-time to really dig into ads because from my friends in the food blogger world at least, it is quite easy to have most of your income come from ads once you have the number of sessions! My goal is to really start on the KZread part as well in the New Year now that I am full-time- it was difficult balancing all five platforms (blog, Pinterest- HUGE for food bloggers, really important, Instagram, Facebook, and KZread), and this video really helped give me an outline of what to expect as I grow and improve videos!! So thank you, Gillian!! Really amazing stuff!

Thanks for this video. I started a blog last year and I love it. It was slow at first but now I'm seeing 5-6 followers per day. I thought I had to start a KZread channel to connect with my blog and I just couldn't make it fit in with my lifestyle. I don't have camera confidence and a noisy dog is definitely not a good recording partner! I'm now decided that I will just keep with my blog (I adore writing) and focus more on promoting my content.

his is our second go at a KZread channel. We decided to interview successful bloggers and vloggers about how they've done it. They all work incredibly hard but they also love it. They all, also have struggled. Makes it very inspiring.

Great tips! I think that youtube is super popular right now, but I think that a blog is perfect to also combine with a blog or website. I love how you go over the pros and cons. I am going to use my youtube videos to add as content on my website.

Location always sat in my head as relating to a brick and mortar store. You might have just blown my mind by bringing that concept to the digital space. Thanks for the ah-ha moment.

I really think that KZread would be the best for me. Editing is the part that scares me the most I did one video a year ago took me nearly 8hrs to edit and post. Made me rethink if I actually will be able to get the hang of that. We shall see!!

Another great one Gillian--thanks so much! Everything you said makes sense. You're certainly right that there's a lot of work involved in getting a blog up and running. I paid a fair price for a course on how to do that, and I spent hours going through it. I would rate it as an excellent course, and I think I got value for my money. However, it seems that every time I go through a lesson I have to go find some additional software to really have the latest and greatest. I'll probably go with KZread initially and perhaps branch out to blogging later. I still don't completely understand how I monitize those first few videos, but I'll keep studying and maybe it'll sink in. I understand how you monitize, but I don't understand how you initially get the ball rolling.

Thanks for posting this vid. I've been on the fence for a while now. Definitely helpful and thorough. 👍🏻 Maybe a future video idea for you would be how you manage your channel and your family. How do you plan out your week to best utilize the time you have?

Not sure why u would get any dislikes, After all this great information. Yes, I took notes and will check out more of your videos because you did a great job of explaining the questions in my head.
