Really would have liked to hear about his thoughts on the life of Genesis. When they played Irving Plaza, NY around 2005, and I was hoping to open for them, but Blixa wanted a less complex band than mine. Instead, I just hung around in the green room and VIP area, acting as a coordinator for other EN Supporters. At one point, Alex was saying that maybe he should give Gen a call, since they were in NY, but he didn't. I didn't ask Alex about it, but should have. It was just me and him waiting around before the doors opened. I also should have urged him to reach out to Gen. I never met Gen, but would have loved to. EN created a sort of family with the supporter project. Erin, Blixa's wife, ran it and hung out in chat and the forums with us all the time. When I arrived to Irving Plaza that day (before the doors opened), Blixa came down off the stage during set up saying loudly, "Exit of 99", then wrapped an arm around my shoulders and guided me to the green room. Erin also invited me to attend the Boston show, but I had to work on that day. This is how they treated many of us, and meeting up with other Supporters from around the globe in Berlin and NYC will be something I'll never forget. These guys are truly awesome people, not just mere musicians.

Blixa Bargeld Interview 2143pm 27.12.23 sounds. many folk enjoyed that music rag. it was astounding that so many music papers folded all, seemingly, at once.... and the crappy world of digital media hadn't even taken hold. colour imagery was about as hi tech as it got in relation to the heady world of journalism... as for Artaud.... his weird writings which seem to hint at the mad man enmeshed within the red and black - got me to thinking. not so much jarry who was far more obscure. supermale was redone by morrissey and his list of the lost.... it's amazing what can pass for literature.... i only learnt: get out of the way so we can dish out threats to the correct personages. how to get out of the way? - refer to Artaud.

13:14 It's interesting to hear Blixa speak of the "formulaic approach" of his earlier lyrical output, and that he felt that he was able to move away from this by adopting a more structured approach to songwriting. I once heard him say in an interview that in the early days of Neubauten he would just stand onstage with the microphone until the words came out (this being a strategy he used in order to access the unconscious.) The earlier Neubauten lyrics seem to me to have a startling originality to them, and it has always struck me that the way they were summoned wasn't as limiting as the more structured approach of Western songwriting (something I believe Blixa actually studied at a certain later stage in the band's development.) Always glad to learn something new about the band. Thanks for uploading this!

@@Flowering_Glume Well, giving up the stimulants all those years ago doesn't appear to have dampened down his ego much. Neubauten featured in a TV programme called Transmission here in the UK in 1989, and the interviewer - taking issue with Blixa's comment that he was "the most important person in the world" - asked him about "other people who don't think you're the most important person in the world". To which Blixa replied "they should create their own egocentric system then". He was obviously fooling around with the interviewer at the time, but it seems that he is currently working on a writing project that asks for contributions from supporters in some way. I haven't really looked into it, but maybe he is changing after all this time. People do tend to lose their rough edges as they enter their later years. Well, mostly...

Huh? What would you consider their noncommercial album? I personally love Strategies II over all, Kollaps is not my favorite but I do tend to think it is the quintessential Neubauten if anyone were to be new and understand what they are getting into. It is what I would give someone to see if they are into them. No argument here, just wondering what you think.

I cannot stop being annoyed by how obviously disinterested you - interviewer man - are in this. People would kill to interview Blixa Bargeld and he was in the mood to dish in this interview and you quite condescending towards the end, comparing them to THE RESIDENTS is apropos of nothing. You seem actually annoyed with Blixa. Have you no idea how lucky you are to interview him? You shut him down after giving you 15 extra minutes - he would have talked another 15! Why are you even interviewing him, you are clearly not a fan, and your admitted Googling doesn't afford you a whole lot of liberties to just be so arbitrary with Blixa. Nearly a waste of an interview if not for him at least getting to reminisce.

Blixa Bargeld Interview 2158pm 27.12.23 calm down, dear. i feel your angst denotes you aint a fan just wanna seem like a lickspittle for the sake of it. there's nothing which could make you enthused about this band after the fact. if the band played this kollaps album live back in 82 or some such....and then you interviewed the band or blixa... you may be forgiven for being overly eager to get some verbiage out of him. even bargeld seems disinterested as though he had uttered the same b.s a million times before - in such rags as sounds or melody maker. go seek out bargeld yourself and interview him and post it - lest some douche hijack your work and make it more "professional"... which is what bargeld and the band mastered - the art of it being as it is. considered and amusing - it may have been - but the effortless way these guys produced garbage is what it's all about. i am glad it divested itself of the professional schtick. only later coming in from the cold, as it were. anyhow; weren't these guys well-schooled in how best to....or the correct way to compose music?..... the band knew the rules and destroyed them - as anyone who knows his own worth can do... i wouldn't be overly pretentious about EN but it captured a something in the air. cocking a snook at the enforced kultural schizophrenia of germany at the time? i recommend the early work of EN - obviously. youknow it makes sense. adios.

Sounds nothing like Pink Floyd. Perhaps not beating the Kollpas drum to the end of the universe would help, nay? Like it was their only album. Boring and seemingly forged interview by someone utterly unaware of the band and then scrutinizing the one album. Blixa loves talking about his new prospects, I am not hearing much of an interested in those endeavors.

He didn't seem to know who Can were.. or even the Velvet Underground. Star Wars and The Residents for the wacky factor but no real insights. When Blixa mentioned ..Patient OT I hoped the interviewer would probe more, such a massively important record and light years away from Kollaps in terms of creativity. Nope just a mute blank expression. You could tell Blixa wanted a proper back and forth conversation. It's infinitely more interesting when he's being interviewed by a badly prepared fanboy and getting annoyed, a dialogue evolves as a result. This guy just seemed a bit disinterested. It's always good to hear BB talk but what a wasted opportunity.
