Finally carnage! With all the censorship they were able to make the best carnage adaptation to date, now imagine the freedom they would have if Spider-Man 98 happens

Seeing all these different characters in the Venom Returns episodes was so mindblowing the first time I saw them as a kid

Same. Kinda spoiled me at a time before the MCU had really reached its stride.

You can tell that Carnage's voice actor (Scott Cleverdon) is having an absolute blast playing the character.

Carnage is already unhinged, but you have got to learn about the one Spider-Man villain to join his ranks of pure evil: *The Thousand.*

The iconic carnage who would completely inspire future incarnations of the character, likely every other version most people had ever seen ecespecially since the character had only existed for 3 or 4 years by this episode

Fun fact: These episodes were the first time I had ever heard of Iron Man or War Machine. Just like how this show introduced me to Daredevil, Dr. Strange and Blade.

The show really was a gateway into Marvel for people in the 90s who didn’t read a lot of the comics. Even more so than X-Men. It’s crazy to think that a lot of the cameo characters that were shown in the show have all now been given live action adaptations. X-Men, Blade, Morbius, Punisher, Dardevil, Captain America, Iron Man and War Machine, Doctor Strange, The Fantastic Four, etc.

@@Shritistrang mayb xmen and spiderman was on fox and then fantastic four iron man and the hulk were all on upn. Upn at the time was smaller then fox altho fox was only 6 or 7 years old at that point no where near the billion dollar company it is now

One of the censorship for the show was having no real guns or swords. Blade had to switch to plasma swords, and every cop/criminal shoots laser guns. So the show runner had to push really hard to be allowed to display a real gun in this episode. He pushed that it was a really good anti-gun message so they needed to show it and was allowed to for just the one episode

These episodes with Carnage were my favorite back when I was a kid, I had them as part of the Venom Saga DVD.

Robbie is the man, he may not have powers or any special type of training but he’s a superhero in my book

This Madame Web is so better and cooler then the movie....RIP Joan Lee!

Facts.

Smythe is such a cool side character tbh. His ultimate slayer form actually has two bladed spider legs on his back, but it was easier to animate lasers. Tombstone.... this episode proves that cartoons always had social commentary. Dormammu, Iron Man, Carnage is a very silly mix. And I can't wait for next episode. It's THE BOI!

Despite the censorship of Cletus Kassidy here....he is way creepier and intimidating then he was in let there be carnage!

I can't believe it took me all these years to finally realize that Spidey made a Joker reference in the Tombstone episode. And to make it even funnier, I jokingly said, "Hey look. It's Lex Luthor" at this moment 13:29 (look at the guy on the right).

In the comics, Spencer Smythe dies from a heart attack, which Alistair blames Spider-Man for. The cartoon had to change this due to censorship and had him fall into a coma instead.

Fun facts: • Robert Hayes, who voices Iron Man, is the same actor reprising his role in the Iron Man animated series, and an episode of The Incredible Hulk. • James Avery (R.I.P.), who voices War Machine, previously voiced him in the Iron Man animated series, and he also voiced the Shredder in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) series, and also played Uncle Phil in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. • Dorian Harewood, who voices Tombstone, would later voice War Machine in the second season of the Iron Man animated series, and an episode of The Incredible Hulk, and also voiced one of the Monstars called Bupkus in Space Jam.

Even with the censorship they still were able to adapt the best version carnage. I absolutely love this version. This one and the spiderman 2000 game version.

(At 40:20) I knew Robertson and Lincoln had a toxic relationship the comics, That started getting even worse and worse (haunting Robbie) and then started to got a little better, but on THIS series, this looks "much" worse. The chemicals did play a big part on his invulnerability, but not his skin. And they BOTH grew up in Harlem.

I'd just like say it was awesome how this series managed to give us the most accurate animated version of Carnage.

(At 35:25) Oh yes I forgot. These two have bad history. This is what I like Tombstone, The conflict and the toxic relationship, that's slowly gets a "little" better, but at the same time "complicated" when their kids getting a relationship that BOTH dads are against.

Despite all the censorship this is still the best version of Carnage. We don't speak of what happened in the movie. I'm cautiously optimistic for Insomniac's version. It's crazy how he was only a few years old and somehow made it into the show.

I wouldn't be optimistic if I were you they were doing just slightly acceptable with the black suit and then messed up hard when Venom officially joined the game, completely ignoring their own established lore and more besides that, their own Cletus had quite an awful writing they better move over the Symbiote Era of Insomniac as fast as possible, since they clearly have no idea how to properly handle them (still better than the SSU movies, but that's a whole another level of low, Raimi still did better despite being forced to use Venom)

Fun fact: The Symbiotes don't actually have names at all. "Venom" and even "Carnage" are actually names that their Hosts call themselves

@@TheMorlun That's where they name their RACE of aliens it is not an actual Individual Symbiotes Name. I'm saying VENOM and CARNAGE aren't the Symbiotes names they're the names the Hosts call themselves.

i know everyone's talking about carnage, but the robbie and tombstone storyline is one of my favorite spidey side plots that I WISH we get another adaptation about cause everything about it was so interesting to me.

The Spider-Man and Venom team up story is based off the 'Maximum Carnage' story with the debt of the Symbiote whose strength is greater than Spider-Man and Venom combined. Thought Venom was considered to at his most evil at the time. Before he/it/them started to mellow out and we got the Anti-Hero version of Venom in the 'Lethal Protector' comic series, and the full hero 'Agent Venom' with a post military and legless Flash Thompson as the host.

Robbie's son is Carlton and Rhodey is Uncle Phil. hell of a reunion.

Season 3 going from strength to strength. Everyone raves about the Venom/Carnage duology, but 'Tombstone' is my personal cult favorite, focusing on how kids can be lured into criminal gangs, believing that their parents don't care about them because they always have to work long hours. Not something you see explored much in a cartoon. Now that I'm older, there's also greater weight on Robbie's concerns that 'one strike could ruin your life' since he and Lonnie Lincoln were African-American growing up in the 70/80s. - I don't know if more exposure to Carnage would have helped him much. He's so murder-focused that there's never really much depth to this character. He's more of an excuse for Venom and Spidey to team up, which never fails to entertain. Finally, we have Smythe trying to flip on Kingpin and getting replaced by Landon- big changes to the status quo. Dormamu is a perfect fit for Carnage. As the latter has been seen with satanic and horror style elements in the comics that are way more horrific.

Hopefully, if Spider-Man gets a reboot like the X-Men with 97. Venom could return. As he is in the top 3 Spidey Villains (Including Green Goblin and Doc Oct).

Make a sense that the Venom symbiote was delivered by a female host. As Venom was originally ment to have a female host in the comics. Plus, we got She-Venom in the comics at some point with Eddie's ex and in the movies to.

I’ve been waiting for Venom & Carnage! I used to have a DVD for the symbiote saga of this show. Imagine if Spider-Man had to bond with the symbiote himself instead of Eddie to fight Carnage 🤔

(At 1:11:40) When Venom came back and bonded with Eddie Brock a piece of Venom's symbiote broke off and entered Cletus Kasady's bloodstream. In fact Carnage was so powerful it took BOTH Spider-Man and Venom to take him out. But this is problematic because even if they did rip the symbiote off of Kasady, since it was in his bloodstream most likely circulate and Carnage will grow back.

(At 1:28:08) Wait is this an animation error or is this intentional? I thought Carnage had five fingers, why does he only have three?

Personally this is my favourite Carnage, others have gotten close like the one from the Shattered dimensions game (my second favourite) but this captures both Cassidy and Carnage instead of just Carnage.

I remember him from this series and from The Amazing Spider-Man video game that was supposed to be a sort of tie-in/continuation of The Amazing Spider-Man movie before the sequel came out. I seriously thought he was going to become the ultimate spider slayer, and we would have to fight him at the end of the game as the final boss. Just like I thought, Peter was going to turn into Man-Spider and overmutate like Connors did when he became The Lizard.

Before. Spencer Smythe played a much larger role in the comics, repeatedly unleashing more Spider-Slayer robots until he was accidentally killed in a battle, driving his son to turn himself into 'The Ultimate Spider-Slayer' to seek revenge. The version of Alister in the show is much more likeable though- I hope he comes back if there is a Spider-Man 98, and maybe Spencer can be revived too, sort of like Mr. Freeze and his wife.

If you take requests could you check out The Incredible Hulk 1997 because it is the best adaptation of the Hulk ever and has the best intro in any Marvel animated show.

X-men 97 had a newspaper in ep 1 with eddie brock doing the photos or something and given its been seen and confirmed by creator this spidey exists with x-men even now, can only mean eddie is back
