57:35 - he actually knows that. Shirogane first met Hayasaka when he visited sick Kaguya at her house. Hayasaka introduced herself as Harsaca to him at the time. And later, when Hayasaka was challenged to seduce Shirogane, she used the "Harsaca" persona again, just changed the image. So Shiragane knows that Harsaca is Kaguya's maid. What he doesn't know is that Hayasaka at the Shuchi'in high school is the same person.

Funny way to write Kaguya

Production notes (a little longer than usual) Ep 1: Boarded by series director Omata and directed by Omata and Takayuki Kikuchi, a series regular. This episode was also completely solo-key animated by Shinnosuke Oota. OP: It was directed by Ryouta Aikei, who has worked on Attack on Titan, was the assistant director to Jujutsu Kaisen s2, and directed S2 E9. ED: It was directed and storyboarded by Nichika Oono, who did the ED for season 2. It's largely a reference to Starship Troopers. Ep 2: Boarded and directed by series regular Masakazu Ohara. Something of note is that director Omata really leans heavily into his Shaft roots for this season and the movie. I'm not sure why, but he does. You'll see a lot more avant garde presentation, and he starts to use anamorphic lens flares similar to directors Tomoyuki Itamura (Nisemonogatari to Owarimonogatari) and Yuki Yase (Onimonogatari, Zaregoto, Fire Force, Undead Unluck). Plus, the fact that a Shaft regular shows up here and in the movie, too, as does one of Omata's friends from his days at Studio Deen, might have an effect on that.

Never a dull episode with best girl Hayasaka. Can't wait for that one legendary episode.

How did Shark not catch onto the one to one Starship Troopers ED? Also at the beginning of the ED Miyuki drank the implied elixir of eternal life that's referenced in the Princess Kaguya story.

Yeah, while it's a Starship Troopers reference, it's also a continuation of the storyline where Prez says that Princess Kaguya's lover did the wrong thing in burning the elixer of immortality, and that were he (Princess) Kaguya's lover, he would have drank it, and worked tirelessly to get to the moon to take (Princess) Kaguya back, even if it took several lifetimes. You see him engineering and developing ornithopters, then planes, then rockets, until eventually leading the Starship-Trooper-style invasion force.

Fun attention to detail: When miko first tells the story of how she got the flower in season 2, osaragi says that she must have heard the story at least 10 times. After todays repeat, she then says that she heard it at least 11 times lol.

Fun fact that may have been mentioned on the prior "Harthaka date" episode, this series has an "official" doujin, drawn by the mangaka, that explores a lot of what-if scenarios. A fairly long recurring storyline in it is exploring if Hayasaka and the Prez were a decade older than the rest, so he never meets Kaguya in a romantic context, and they end up falling in love instead. While it is drawn by the mangaka, and is not just smut, there's a reason the official doujin is a doujin and not just side-chapters, though. It's a bit saucy at times. But an excellent read to expand on some character developments
