If you really think about it, Bill had the most unsatisfying victory known to man. Since Discord is chaos incarnate he WILL regenerate in Equestria at some point.

Discord basically ignored winning the battle (what the hosts and viewers are here for) in favour of achieving his narrative goals- what's more Chaotic than that? Bill following the usual script of fighting to the death is more Ordered by comparison. He (Discord) also starts teleporting them after the Puppet World, setting up the twist.

@@DIEFORME173 How is it coping? Bill killed Discord. By the rules of Death Battle, the triangle won. But Bill didn't get what he wanted, and that's a pyrrhic victory. If Bill ever manages to make his way back to the land of ponies, there won't be a Discord to stop him a second time.

I have been in a Dennys at 3am, and can confirm that the weirdness was me and my friends just out from a punk show.

Out of all the Death Battles I’ve seen, this one was one of the best imo, taking the amount of animation styles that were used and the voice work of Bill and Discord into account.

The track in the episode is "Discordant Decipher" by Brandon Yates. It's fantastic, go give it a listen as a good bit of it got cut out in the actual fight

Bill may have won the death battle, but Discord still came out on top by saving Fluttershy and everyone else in Equestria from Bill and trapping him again (the fact that you can see the letter he was writing in the beginning of the battle when Fluttershy's looking for him, showing that it was more of a goodbye letter than anything always manages to break my heart, especially in combination with Fluttershy's voice as she calls for him ToT)

This battle was so crazy. Bill Cipher and Discord are both chaotic. Discord has to sacrifice himself for Fluttershy and her friends 🔥🔥🔥🤪🤪🤪

Definitely a great battle but Discord definitely should’ve won. None of their wincons for Bill really make sense in context, like Bill “destroying” souls even though the only times he can affect souls are in the mindscape (where you can do literally anything you can think of anyways) or with a deal, the Bell not effecting Bill even though the barrier stopping Bill is not the same thing as the Bell draining energy, and Discord not taking the fight seriously, even though he has taken fights against people like Bill seriously, like with Cosmos. They also left out all of Discord’s other wincons, like manipulating Bill without going directly into his mind, kicking him back to the Nightmare Realm and destabilizing it until it was destroyed, or even just closing the Weirdmaggeddon Rift and cutting Bill off from his power source. Still an easy 9/10 but they did the Lord of Chaos dirty.

This is a result that most people in either fandom is happy with. Bill was ruthless and won the fight, but Discord was more focused on rescuing Fluttershy from Bill (and the rest of Equestria by proxy). Both had their goals in sight and both succeeded, even if Discord realised it most likely meant sacrificing himself in the process.

This is up there with some of my personal favorite Death Battles honestly. Top 5 atleast!

I was kind of expecting more of a reaction to Fluttershy calling out to Discord.

Discord should have won this. Not only did DB get some things wrong about Bill, but Discord can do several things that Bill either can't do or needs additional power sources or permission or to make deals to do, but Discord can and has just do/done them. Plus, the way they had Bill defeat Discord was nonsense, as there was literally no reason for Discord to just become a ghost the way he did. There's also no evidence that Bill can kill souls, as the two guys he "destroyed" were imaginary characters in someone's mind.

Hm. One point from his initial appearance in the show (which I've heard was written a bit before it overreached its original design); Discord knows how to recognize and work with the narrative of a story. As the villain-of-the-week on a children's show, from the very moment he escaped there was no real chance of this ending without him being either imprisoned or killed. With the limited time of a two-part special available, he did every single thing right: enjoyed himself while being entertaining enough, interesting enough, and relatively harmless enough that in a show stressing friendship and forgiveness he'd inevitably get released again due to audience demand. So here he has to either kill Bill and sell it to the Gravity Falls audience, or he has to get killed - under his own terms, in a way that screws Bill over as much as possible, and in a way he's pretty guaranteed to come back from after a while but will be off-camera so it doesn't matter for the show's premise. (Similarly to how Dante vs. Bayonetta ends with Dante having screwed himself over until he figures out how to bring her back: he can and will do it, but it's off camera.) Becoming a ghost and entering Bill's mind does expose him but it also guarantees the "all-seeing god" is going to be looking inwards too long to pay any attention to his surroundings. At the meta level, this is pretty smart.

I think they might've taken some liberties just for the sake of telling a story. And honestly, I think the episode benefits from it. Sure, it might not be accurate, but I think it's more thematically fitting.

The hilarious thing is, Bill lost either way. While Bill needs someone else to help him escape his home dimension, Discord does not have that kind of restriction on him. In fact, so long as there is Chaos in any sense, he can return. So Bill loses if he loses and loses if he wins.

please tell me you saw bill crush discords soul, it seemed like you did but i have to ask SO MANY REACTORS FAIL TO SEE IT, and i dont understand it, he turns him to DUST and so many reactors are SHOCKED and baffled at seeing that its bill who won instead, thinking discord somehow escaped in DEATHBATTLE (the only survivors are in draws not k.o.s) its like 9 out of ever 10 reactions and i dont understand it so im so glad your one of the ones with eyeballs

I honestly feel like db didn’t research discord well enough. they continually refer to his physical form as destroyable by external forces when he has never even HAD his physical form destroyed. they keep showing the clip of starlight banning his physical form from the school as proof that he can persist as a spirit after losing his physical form, when this didn’t have anything to do with being harmed/death. this clip was him bypassing a barrier spell. it’s just painfully inaccurate and seems like an excuse to scale him below bill. discord has also been shown to literally be fuelled by chaos, like how the cmc fighting was the final straw in releasing him from stone, so fighting bill, another chaotic being, would’ve only made him stronger. I feel the only way discord could genuinely be killed is via becoming normal and ceasing to exist, or potentially losing his magic then being killed.

im still sad i didnt get a Discord/pinky troll team up on a bad guy to make them rage quit

youtube-dl has more functionality than youtube's own downloading feature. It's harder to use, but once you get the hang of it, it's better. Ads are not a problem with Ublock Origin. They're doing a great job at swiftly defeating each of youtube's feeble attempts to stop adblockers.

i believe the official verdict was "canon, until directly contradicted by the show". so yeah, some comics directly conflict with the show and thus can be safely dismissed. most are canon though.

Bill won the battle but discord won the war not only did discord trap bill in the 2nd dimension but discord is a conceptual being as long as chaos exists he will eventually reform in Equestria it would just take too long to continue the fight which as dictated by death battle rules means bill won
