"He's either really stupid.. or really brave." When you said that I was grinning at my screen. Yes, he is. He's so much of both. You got his vibe so early so well. Also, you're right that Luffy can be hurt through his friends, but rather than just stretchy, he's rubber. Meaning he's immune to most blunt blows(and bullets), but he can still be cut. The 8:55 "He likes to live life on the edge, he's always there for the adventure." and 10:53 "I don't think you can tell Luffy what he can and can't do." are also incredibly spot on. You really do get the right message from each scene. Love that. Your reaction to the transponder snail was incredible btw. Yes, the phones here are telepathic snails. Don't ask.

The concept of a world consisting mostly of islands spread across an ocean so vast it requires a navy the size of the entire US government just to maintain any semblance of order makes for great world-building potential. I look forward to seeing more. 👏

Have you not watched the original? Cause Oda is one of the best world builders I don't want to spoil anything. One of the reasons I try to stay alive is to finish original op. I, and I would imagine others, love this series that much while that may be sad it's true

About Coby being a slave, kinda. I don't think they mention it in the show but he wanted to go fishing but accidentily took the wrong boat. Leading to him being stuck as Alvida's chore boy. Also: If I remember right Alvida's ship is called the Miss Love Duck.

Luffy is made of rubber so he can nullify blunt attack to some degree but sharp objects like knife or sword can harm him...

I've been watching reactions to the show all day but yours is the one I've been looking forward to! Yay! One thing I haven't seen anyone mention (that was a nice addition of the show not in the manga) was the way two others tried to recruit Zoro by offering him a high position, then threatening him if he said no. Luffy on the other hand did the opposite. He asked him what HE wanted, who he was, and after he was rejected, he still helped him.

Oda specifically confirmed in an interview that he wouldn’t do that like Wizard of Oz, he said it is a physical reward.

Some explain, Luffy is vulnerable to bladed attacks, but the bullets of the time aren't pointed like modern ammo rather blunted musket balls and thus don't damage him and the same with other blunt force attacks...

Welcome aboard to the greatest story ever told! I would love to see you reacting to the anime too, it's a long journey but totally worth it!

Luffy is susceptible to bladed weapons (he can still be cut), drowning (the devil fruit causes ocean water to drain his energy), and some future ones that come up later in the anime.

Knives, sharp objects and sea water are luffys weakness

"did he acquire this power later" Yes but no. He did scar himself before getting the power but even after he gets the powers, he's vulnerable to blades but not bullets so he could still have scarred himself. This world use old pistols with round bullets hence why they don't pierce Luffy. "low key, he's kind of hot" actually yes but it took us much more time to realise it, the live action makes it more obvious xD

It's great to see non one piece fans watch this live action, after all that's the point of the live action which is to bring new viewers to the chaotic adventure that is one piece. One piece is elite in world building and foreshadowing so its IMPORTANT to actually pay attention and connect the dots to loose screws. The amount of easter eggs is INSANE but obviously you wouldn't get it so you should look into small details such as wanted posters and characters that seem like side characters and whatnot. Steer clear from spoilers, I wish you the best into the long ride that is One piece.

You should consider watching the anime. At first it didn’t grab my attention the art style of the creator (oda) but once I give it I try I really like almost everything the show has to offer to be honest, the character’s personalities are really unique, the battles and soundtrack of the anime are much better then the live action and it has really sentimental parts were you will cry once you get attached to luffy s crew. I even felt really identified (it is like oda studied or knew someone could have these particular personalities to make the crew really fun to watch, he is a real amazing guy) to some characters personalities and like the bad sense of direction zoros has I also get lost and can’t follow directions easily I felt the live action was really fast paced comparing it with the manga but they had to do it fast because they only did 8 episodes sadly for me, I would rather preferred like 10 episodes at lest, hopefully they create more well developed script next time cause it was really fast for me and it gives not sentimental feeling if it is going this fast. sometimes the sense of humor is a little too much for me (like too many inside jokes) but at some parts they nailed it to make you laugh The best of best are the first episodes and for me drum drum island, enies lobby, thriller bark an all the marineford are he best even I really liked the filler arc where they fall from above the sky and they get trapped inside a marine fort where they have to figure out how to escape and also the dragon and the girl filler arc, anyways sorry for the long comment, when talking about one piece I really put some heart into my comments haha ❤
