Blessthefall "Cutthroat" raw multi-tracks [UNBOXING]

Eyal Levi takes you on a guided tour of the raw multi-tracks for "Cutthroat" by Blessthefall, originally mixed by Tyler Smyth from their 2018 album "Hard Feelings."
A few things to note about this session:
- Lots of interesting layers of effected guitars and synths that add a LOT to the arrangement in terms of interest and dynamics (including some nice details where the guitar and synths are often blurred)
- Programmed drums. And as Eyal says, whether you like the decision to use programmed drums or not, as a mixer you should know how to work with them
- Why rooms are key to making programmed drums sound good
- Lots and lots of guitars (including DIs if you want to reamp)
- Programmed sub-bass layer. Before you get up in arms about this, listen to Eyal's explanation as to why this is often a very good idea.

    man this is so intersting. i love blessthefall, but i never spent a though about the production. but this is so well done. and ive seen them live, i know they can deliver, so i really couldnt care less how this great sound is achieved during the production. low end sounds awesome. thats what counts.

    Es muy cierto lo que dices, hay personas que no entienden la calidad del sonido y como se obtiene, lo del sample de Bajo me parece una técnica increíble, gran aporte!! muchas gracias!! fuerte abrazo desde Chiapas, México.

    crazy thinking about how "manufactured" this song is. I know there's a lot of metal/rock bands that make songs like this but I never thought about it until watching this video. Interesting stuff! Still my fave Blessthefall song

    BTF is one of my favorite bands but why do bands this big end up using programmed drums or programmed bass when they have the budget and talent to get their performance recorded?

  • @taallen50

    @taallen50

    Many reasons. Such as sound quality, making sure that the drums are 100% quantized. It comes down to the preference of the band and producer. Some drummers have a programmed version of the drums to test fills and improvise part of a song and actually here what the audience and consumers will hear. Like I said, loads of reasons
