Okay I know I might come off as bitchy, but people who complain about artist’s leaving their old supplies piss me off. I’ve noticed it specially happens when artist go from a cheap alcohol brand to copic markers. Artist change their art supplies all the time, and either way supplies don’t make the artist. I get it might be tiring to only see artists use copics but if it’s something that’s discouraging you, you’re focusing on the wrong things

Not to mention that there is a *reason* artists tend to prefer higher quality supplies. Yes you can still make great art with cheaper supplies, but why not streamline your process instead of having to work around the weaknesses of your supplies constantly if you can afford not to?

I didn't even realize people were complaining about that until this video. Why do we focus on the non important things? What does grind my gears is when people comment things like, "their art is brighter than my future" or "your rough sketch is better than my final piece." Why put yourself down like that? If that's how you value yourself, you will never improve. I remember when I use to say things like, "I wish I could be as good as you". I stopped saying that when I realize, I can be great if I keep it up and be patience. But nowadays, people expect to be born good. That's just not how it works.

@Yuritzi Vazquez I think they will unless they use cheap supplies. If they use cheap supplies, they'll be getting bad user reviews and eventually get less costumers. But they'll save more money. If they do go all out and give out premium-quality Copic-like brush markers, and at the same price... Well, being a main competitor with Copic... They may make a run for their money. Sure they did! Well, maybe not 400 years ago, but at some point they used bread. I'm not joking. www.historyofpencils.com/writing-instruments-history/history-of-eraser/ "To remove ink from parchment or papyrus they used bits of rough stone like sandstone or pumice. In Japan, they used soft bread. It was not until 1770 that we found out that a natural rubber made from plants can be used as an eraser. That year, Edward Nairne, an English engineer, picked up a piece of rubber instead of breadcrumbs and discovered that rubber can erase pencil markings." Well, that's almost 400 years ago!

yes. i've had this issue and still do. It's kind of the reason why i quit art entirely and decided to take on a completely different major when i went to university. However, i still desire to make beautiful art and keep watching these videos. It's really important that you learn to let go. I've gotten a little better in mindset but as perfectionists, it's a deep habit that you need to actively get rid of. Just draw to draw. Just keep it even if you think it's thrash. And eventually there will eb some you like in a sketchbook. and over time you will like more drawings in your sketchbook. You can't think of it as keeping the worthy stuff, but keep everything and highlight the stuff you like yoruself.

And when you get a job in 3 years, you can start collecting Copics (or be smart and ask for them for Christmas and use your birthday money to get some asap). Ohuhus cost as much as Crayolas anyway, except only Amazon has them... because Ohuhu is a Chinese knockoff brand, they make knockoffs of everything.

@@lazypupper8623 You can get them on Amazon. To add on to the last person on the reply thread, there's 40/60/80/100 packs: 40 is $22, 60 is $30, 80 is $40, and 100 is $50. I just started my first serious sketchbook, so that positive attitude toward creating is kind of what I need rn. I'm actually trying to erase less and have more sketchy drawings bc I have a bad habit of erasing and retrying the same spot over and over thinking I'll eventually get it right and feeling like I learn nothing. So, I used colored pencils today on a sketch, and I actually feel like it kind of helped me see what needs work and what I was happy with.

It's really rewarding to be able to find something that you didn't like but make it into what you had imagined because of time and dedication to art in general and being able to apply that to something before.

The grading was not only on ideas, but techniques, and I never felt like it was enough. Other people always seemed to have prettier, better art pieces, and seemed to have ideas pop out of nowhere. Your reflections and how positive you are is inspiring! I hope you keep making art the way you like it, and keep on improving (even though we all think it's beautiful already)!

There is absolutely no reason, non, that a drawing should make me feel this way. Weelz is so unbelievably cute. I love her so much. She is adorable. Thank you for bringing her into our lives. Mine is better because of it. I love her so much.

Kneaded erasers can be softened with lotion and heat. Get a blow dryer and mix the lotion in. Ive used this technique with cheap kneaded erasers. The key to knowing if your eraser is good is it it stretches.
