Blending Colors by Helen Van Wyk (Improved Audio)

Join Helen Van Wyk in her studio for an exploration of color blending in oil painting. In this episode, Helen demonstrates how to create realistic blended colors and maintain balance in your brushwork. Using a black cooking pot and red onions as her subjects, she shares her techniques for composing and situating objects on canvas. She then guides you through achieving the perfect color gradient, a challenge many artists face. Painting onions takes time and skill; if it doesn't work the first time, rub it out and start again. Don't pick at it. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, Helen's practical tips and insights will enhance your painting skills.

Thank you always. I am from Russia, 88 years old, and I have never painted, but I tried 7 years ago. Watching Helen helps me a lot. Her style, image, and voice remind me of old American movies. She is a real joy to watch. Blessings.

Actually no. There never was a soup lesson and Helen didn't even know how to make homemade soup. She did, however, make really superior art lessons for her students. In her own words, Helen said: 'I love to teach. I really do. Because it gives me a chance to talk about what I love...painting.'"
