It's so amazing that a free, open source program can now do what only expensive, professional software could do before. Really awesome to see :D

The fact that Blender is open source is exactly why it's capable of having all these features tho. Crowdsourcing development from passionate developers is what's keeping open-source software alive, and what's allowing it to be free in the first place.

@@vlc-cosplayer Eh, no? Never once did I say that Open-source is better because of the crowd-sourced development, I said that's the reason they have all the features in the first place.... Blender is still a mess in some areas and lack a bunch of core technology to really, truly be competitive to other software like Cinema 4D, maya and Modo. When you say "By that logic" it would appear that you think this is something I came up with, it's not, it's a cold fact that blender have more features as a complete package than most other 3D software out there because an entire community is developing it... that's what open-source means, it does Modelling, Texturing, Painting, Sculpting, 3D Animation, 2D animation, VFX compositing, video editing (sort of), Simulations (Both fluids, cloths, rigid, soft bodies and so on) Fully raytraced rendering, Realtime game-engine-like rendering, scripting and so so much more.... But, having all those features, and doing it well is two VERY different things... This is where the commercial software, like Cinema 4D by MAXON comes in, they may not have every single feature, but, there's alot of focused, expensive development behind it, which means there's a certain level of quality control behind it. Again, no, I never said that Blender is better than industry-standard software, I said that the reason blender can have all these features is because there's a lot of people developing it -> because it's open-source. You're right that Gimp isn't intuitive, blender used to un-intuitive too but it's gotten alot better with the 2.8 update tho, alot of positive changes and more stramlines industry-standard ways of doing things. Also, Gimp is in no way shape or form better than PhotoShop, and most likely nothing will ever truly be overtaking any of Adobe's flagship software, because Adobe have a shitload of cash and an entire army working on each software all the time.....

What I find amazing is that this is can be done in realtime on your smartphone through snapchat filters and the likes. I just wonder why it's still so clumsy to do it video editors.

@@datinbin Because a snapchat filter is extra low poly, applied to a premade face grid, that just measily sits over your face bounds. Its choppy, and doesn't deal with major pattern calculations like video editing software does.

for anyone using 2.82a+, the auto render option at 2:18 has moved to the "options" tab on the right. edit: Also if you get a problem with the render not showing over the background: go into the "render settings" tab on the right side-panel, go down to film and make sure "transparent" is checked.

8:40 I was a bit lost here. First, you need to change "Timeline" view at the bottom to "3D viewport". Focus timeline view and press "Shift+F5". (To go back to "Timeline" is Shift+F12). another way to do it is to find a clock icon at the left of the timeline, click it and select "3D viewport". Once it is activated, I've found a camera icon at the right side of this editor view (not in sidebar), if you click it you get an actual image behind 3d object. Another way to activate it is no use "Numpad 0" key.

Thank you very much for this amazing tutorial. I have wanted for the longest time to learn to do camera tracking, to insert some cool things here and there in my KZread videos, but I was subconsciously afraid of how hard it must be. Thanks to you I have finally overcome my fear! I've printed out some markers, shot a sample video, tracked, inserted objects and rendered - the entire process took only couple of hours. I have actually studied some math behind the computer graphics processes in the Czech Technical University in Prague, we have written code that reconstructs 3d scene from a series of 2d images. I am glad I will now be able to put these skills to some (hopefully good) use.

If anyone is having trouble importing the image sequence, remember that you only need to import the first file of the sequence (that is file 001), blender will pull the full sequence, selecting all or selecting the last file will import a single frame (make sure your sorting method is crescent)

    3 жыл бұрын

You want to make sure your render engine is Cycles and then you need to delete the ground that was set when you set up the tracking scene. Then, you need to add your own plane. You then need to go to the Object Properties and under Visibility, you need to check the Transparent checkbox. If you are using Blender 2.8 Alpha, you need to go to the Object Properties and under Cycles Settings, you need to check Shadow Catcher. Let me know if this helps.
