Blast from the past: Sherco shenanigans and first mods︱Cross Training Enduro

www.crosstraini... We've had lots of questions about the mods and bling we'll be getting for the Sherco two strokes. Here's the list so far... we are trying to keep it minimal but I've already busted my clutch assembly because I didn't get full handguards, doh! Welcome to Cross Training Enduro! This channel is an introduction on how to ride dirt bikes with our 70 free training vids. Tips from Graham Jarvis, Chris Birch and other top enduro riders on cross training - a blend of trials and enduro techniques. And Australian Tim Coleman loves to ride hard enduro events like the Red Bull Sea to Sky on his Beta RR300 dirt bike due to his trials background. The rise of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events has led to cross training - trials skills applied to dirt riding on enduro bikes with dirt riding tips and techniques. Subscribe for endurocross training, enduro techniques and dirt bike skills. Cross training is the application of trials-based skills to dirt riding, and it's got solid backing from the world's top riders for great dirt riding techniques. This is the first in a series of articles about enduro cross training for dirt bike skills. We'll start by looking at how the principles of trials riding can make such a big difference to your dirt riding, with riding tips from Tim Coleman and Ruben Chadwick. Into enduro riding? See all our dirt bike videos for dirt riding tips. Our channel now had hundreds of dirt bike videos covering reviews, and enduro riding techniques. Search our channel for dirt riding gear too. Our dirt riding tips also include wider topics such as the best dirt riding boots. Losing traction is a cardinal sin in trials riding, and riders go to extreme lengths to ensure their tires don't slip. Graham Jarvis says "Going fast is the easy bit. It’s going slowly that will help you develop control. Simple riding exercises which are actually difficult to perform can give you a lot of control", while according to Taddy Blazusiak, "Want to be faster off-road? Slow down! See it in our dirt bike videos. Try to be as calculated, calm and precise as possible". Jonny Walker, Ruben Chadwick and Tim Coleman are all highly skilled trials riders now on enduro bikes who agree. Tim Coleman plans to fly out from Australia and ride hard enduro events like Romaniacs and the Red Bull Sea to Sky because he has applied his trials riding to extreme enduro technique. Initially, cross training enduro skills slow you right down (even to a stand still!) so that you can relearn key dirt riding skills then gradually build up your speed again.

    Blast from the past - first rides on the brand new Shercos back in 2022! For up-to-date comments, see our long-term review vid here! kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5iE2pKoiJfQebQ.html Some time ago, I stopped creating weekly supporter videos for viewers who were financially helping to keep the channel afloat. I'm slowly releasing a few of the more popular ones so you may have seen the much shorter version a few years ago. Enjoy! My apologies to any supporters who feel this is unfair as they had exclusive access to these videos in the past. However, ad revenue from KZread has dropped dramatically and as most of you know I refuse to do any affiliate marketing or accept sponsorship in exchange for promoting products.

    I’ve been a Beta 300 guy for the last 6 years but have been more and more curious about the 300 4t offering from Sherco. I’m just afraid I’d miss the off idle lug I love so much. I also worry about flameouts. A Rekluse could fix that but then I’d need to find a whole new set of friends 😂

    Doing a rear wheel hop from stand still works a lot better if you give it a slight blip from clutch to ignite the hop while compressing the shock. When in motion don't pull the clutch before tail is in the air. Makes a big difference 👍

    I'm looking at upgrading from my 2020 300exc. The sherco is a serious contender. I do find the KTM feels lighter to me. Plus the clutch is better (I run a clake so that doesn't matter too much) personally I think the exc has better low down, but lacks in the mid. Ill make my mind up one day.

    They are a pretty solid bike nowadays. Like most brands, they were ironing out some issues in their first few years. We reckon it's the strongest engine out of the bunch at low revs due to that electronic power valve. The Beta RR250 is very close though.

    That would be our best 300 two stroke vid. It doesn't go into great detail. Also it looked at the TPI models but the TBI is now out.... this has regained the lost grunt but we won't know how reliable the system is until we get long term reports.

    We haven't done a direct comparison yet but the TBI definitely feels more like a carb bike when it comes to grunt. We've had a few friends spends loads of cash on their TPIs trying to get them halfway to the grunt of a carb. 😢

    Time stamp 4:32. Is that 3 clicks infrom all the way out? My manual says 12 clicks out from all the in. I am 15 clicks out from all the way in. Feels good at higher speed and when I have energy, but after 20 miles on rocky terrain I am worn out. 220lb rider. Also, i have turned my shock rebound way in to 4 clicks from all the way in. Maybe due to increased preload on standard spring. Anyone else have their rebiund cranked in on SE factory?

  • @crosstrainingenduro

    @crosstrainingenduro

    I just softened the compression until it stopped turning, can't remember how many clicks now. It could actually be a bit softer for our style of slow technical riding but I think it's going to suit everyday dirt riding.

    @@crosstrainingenduro Barry, just checked. There was 20 clicks to full out. The manual lists that as "comfort." Haha. "Sport" is 8 clicks, so they are giving a lot of room for aggressive riding. I will try a few more clicks out. Thanks for the reply. Cheers.

    The 46mm kyb open cartridge is a much better fork for harder,slower rides. got with the Rieju Ranger 300 and was surprised how much better I like them compared to the closed cartridge.

  • @crosstrainingenduro

    @crosstrainingenduro

    A lot of riders automatically think closed cartridge is better... which it can be for racing and the extreme conditions get the oil frothing. But for us everyday riders.... usually a complete non-issue I suspect.
