Penitances are meant to make the game harder, not easier, op is just abusing the penance's mechanic for his own favour. Pencance are ng+ exclusive so if you are new you cant get them anyway. The penance in the video makes it so that your flasks give you fervour instead of health, so you can see how the devs intended to make it harder, its just that you can cheese bosses really hard with all that fervour

On NG+ u get to choose from three unique penitences (added difficutly) True Guilt is the one that changes ur flasks, after completing the game with it u get a Bead that does the same

How do you throw those ranged projectiles endlessly in boss battles? I thought you needed to execute enemies for that.

It's from the rosary bead "Cloistered ruby". When you drink a flask it gives you 5 charged attacks.
