He couldn't really get it down and then he ghosted the band a couple days before the show. This happened just a few months ago.

He reminds me of so much of your generation “bad copies” of what already has been done. Listen to “Return to Forever” Lenny White that’s who he’s trying desperately to imitate. He’s has very fast hands and feet but plays often in 4/4 and he’s limited. I hope he develops out of the same style and develops his own. Ciao.

    But do y’all actually listen to Witherfall? Like do y’all stream the music and attend the shows? I’m just wondering…it seems like a lot of energy is being spent on bashing Mike for being unprofessional and missing the gig but do y’all put that same energy into actually supporting the band? 🧐🧐🧐 just wondering because it really just sounds like some drummers who aren’t as good hating on someone who did some dirt but is still WAAAAYY better than y’all. There are soooo many great drummers and musicians who have done fucked up things… missed gigs, cancelled sessions, showing up late, not showing up at all… if you think the greats haven’t done this then u haven’t studied the greats. I guess I’m just confused as to why everyone seems emotionally invested…. The reality is simple… he’s a beast on the drums and he’s clearly burned some bridges but he’s still a beast 😂

    Is anyone criticizing his skills as a drummer? Jaco Pastorius was a genius bass player, but by the end of his life, he wasn't getting gigs because he was hard to work with. I can still appreciate Jaco's skills and songs but the criticism for his unprofessionalism is absolutely valid. What this drummer did is still messed up and deserves to be called out.

  • @Jazzyblackdrummer

    @Jazzyblackdrummer

    Musical is a universally defined term. Musicality its is an apparent that we see things differently. For example, both Vinnie Colliuta and Dave Weckl are extremely talented, dynamic musicians who happen to be drummers. They’re both educated musicians. Vinnie went to Berklee college of music and Dave I forget where he went but it was a top-notch music program. Blaque Dynamite was discovered having backed up I believe it was Stanley Clarke and he was thrusted out into the music scene behind that. Talented yes knowledgeable about music as a whole not very. As I’ve heard the body of music he’s been involved with I’m not impressed. It for me is predictable. I can tell by listening to him what he’s going to do next. Sorry, maybe that speaks to my ability vs his but I am not trying to diss Blaque Dynamite it’s only a critique from my humble perspective. Moreover, you come off as a fanatic more so than a fan. You appear to be obsessed vs someone who appreciates the art. Maybe you should do some self reflection and possibly seek some professional help if your issues can’t be resolved.

    @@Jazzyblackdrummer Nah you're not telling me what is and isn't musical, that's not how it works. I and many others find him musical. I'm pretty sure he did go to a college with many famous names within jazz behind it too, not that it matters. He's really one of the best, I'm not a "fanatical fan" or anything, I just respect the guys contributions, and I'd be delusional to act like his playing is beneath my ears like you are

  • @blopenshtop

    @blopenshtop

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes. The idea if a drummer has crazy chops they don't have groove is stupid. When you play as much as this guy has its the whole package that comes with it. This is a drum performance, if you want something else check out his stuff with Stanley Clarke. Legendary bass player, so he wouldn't have that gig if it was just 'all over playing'.
