another way to fix that sharp edge left when you cut a zip tie is to leave it about 1/8th" sticking out then hit it a few times with a lighter. it'll weld up the end to the lock mechanism of the zip tie. will not pull through, zip tie will have to break before it slips.

Daily backpack gear, cycled 10 years now without a car. ParkTools mini chain tool, patch kit, good mini pump, zip ties, tape, random spare nuts and bolts. The hex tools I need, a 10, 13, 15. knife, Glock G20 10mm (Only in Washington, CPL holder), matches or a lighter. A small custom first aid kit, that has everything from band aids to ER suture kits(don't carry tools you don't know how to use or attempt to give field stiches if you don't have training for it.) Extra tube myabe good for long rides. Water, camera, second bullet proof old Nokia cell phone, and a harmonica.

There is a dedicated zip tie tension/cutter tool. You can adjust the tension setting and it does a really good job of cutting flush and smooth. Not the kind of thing you want in your pack or pocket on a ride, but it's great for the workshop or in your traveling tool box.

I would add a rag and a drivechain brush to that list. And zip ties! Actually managed to fix a punctured innertube mid ride even though I was lacking the tool needed to take of the wheel (security bolts on my city/backup bike). Folded the tube on itself, zipped it tight, and put it back in. It held days/weeks before I took the time to fix it. True story!

My daughter and I have had so many great laughs and giggles thx to the MacRide! She was expensive with import fees and taxes on top of a hefty price. But still totally worth it imho. Biggest girl i is 4,5 yo now and can still come with me, but I have to stiffen up the fork and put here in a somewhat awkward position so her feet doesn't rub the tire if I turn when the fork compress. Stoked that our 1,5 yo soon can start ride with me as well!!

Zip tie hack: sure you can buy those fancy pliers, so your hand doesn't look like a psycho cat had your hand in it's death claws. But a quick blast of a lighter on the sharp end makes them round. Graduate of ZipTie University, Class of 1999

For clipping zip ties, the best thing to use that I’ve found is toenail clippers. They’re dirt-cheap, you can clip zipties extremely close, and the curve in the toenail clippers ensures there are no sharp corners. Try it out - they work better than the park tool pliers and you probably already have some!

2:33 I've tried it, yes it works to have a nice smell, but does not actually clean it like it says on the can, regular hand soap will do a much better job. I used the foam fresh and brown dirty water when I used hand soap. I take the helmet liner and cheek pads and wash them, if it's time to do it. a good idea is to buy spare liner and pads, so you can just swap them and let the other dry. I use fresh gloves after each long ride, and always wash the pads after getting them sweaty and dirty, and have second pair so one can dry, and I have a set to use.

my current favourite bit of kit is a super basic one. Just a bottle mount with a zip up puch that slots in there. on longer rides where i can't go without a pack it is just a puncture repair kit with a spare tube in case i tear a tyre. On shorter outings where i don't need to consider hydration, i take the tube out and can easily fit my phone and house keys in there. Now i just need to find the balance of length of ride in this hotter weather if im not caryying a pack. Neck a litre of drink, go out for an hour, and neck another litre when i get back seems to work for now. Really like the idea of a hip pack with a hydration bladder, but a bit concerned it would mess with my lower back pain having it just bouncing around the problem area.

I found out I can use that as my heart rate monitor by setting it to transmit. Gold Secure locks. I have two. One in my car to stop thieving little baskets nicking it off the carrier. Also a Hiplok Gold when I'm out and going to leave my bike. I also have Hiplok Z Lok. I have 3 in the car as a deterrent when I'm on my way to the trail. I also carry 2 other Z Loks when I'm out just as a get me out of trouble when I need to pop into a shop for a couple of minutes. I actually use all the lock I carry it I lock my bike outside a shop for a while. I also use all the locks in my car when I leave my bike on the carrier and I'm gone for a while.
