Blacksmithing - Making a pair of scissors
Today I show how I forge a pair of basic scissors from a piece of old coil spring. A quite rewarding project as the end product turns out to be a very useful tool!! Also included is a segment of me and my son finishing up a charging station for the household electronics...all designed by him and me as a helping hand :)

My grandpa was a blacksmith and he died before I was born. Seeing a blacksmith create something is so incredibly fascinating; I can't help but wonder what my grandfather forged back then.

These will last several lifetimes... we need to do away with this idea of buying something cheap and throwing it away as buying another is cheaper... Hi Torbjorn, fantastic piece of craftmanship showing great detail and emphasis on getting the blades just right. Love the "interlude" with Junior making the charging stand. Great video and a pleasure watching.
I love how you let your son help with some of the stuff you make . and also in this video the little 'side project' with the phones.
This is KEWL !!! And, you're right...it IS nerve wracking when you're putting the blade curve in for shear-action, because of the fact...the blade is SO HARD, its brittle and the least bit past the strength ledge, the blade will SNAP! I like the you LOVE the steel. Being gentle and taking your time to coax the metal into what's in your mind's eye! Beautiful! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing your tallent!

Deceptively simple and beautiful, as always.
I remember seeing a similar process for crafting scissors in India in the 1990s, the blades were made from old worn out hi carbon steel hand files with handles made from cast brass and riveted to the blades. I purchased about a dozen of various sizes and still have and use them. This is a fantastic video, keep up your good work Mr Torbjorn.

Beautiful work, functional art. It's always a pleasure to hear the lullaby your hammer sings and the story it tells. Thank you!
You are an artist. Not just because your product looks nice but more that you have taken time and command of the medium, ( as much as it will let you...), and can manipulate it to match your intent.
