Damn, that's a tough choice between the best imagine quality out of the box (BM), or overall usability and convenience (Sony). Different cameras for different uses I'd say. But hard to argue with how versitile Sony line is with autofocus, ibis, photo capabilities, size, weight, battery life and pretty much everything except for the BRAW. And just in case, I was a BM fanboy, so even I'm surprised that I'm now gonna pick Sony over BM, but hey, whatever works best and can payoff itself faster...😅

100%! Actually out of camera BMCC6K only looks good at the very lowest ISO if you go past 640 you need NR and I personally would like that to be handled in camera than do NR to most shots in post.

Blackmagic color science/skintones destroys Sony 💯

I've been hesitating between these two cameras. Considering the price, dynamic range, low light performance, rolling shutter speed, and convenience. I feel like I made the right choice with the ZV-E1. The subtle difference in skin tone is really easy to match. I appreciate your comparison video!!

Ah brother you are not the only one in this dilemma haha I am right in the middle of it myself just now - will test the bmcc6k to the MAX to never have to wonder. And yeah ZVE1 in right hands = FX6 so… smart choice

On my LG 4k 10 bit FRC monitor the BM camera has more colour and pop. There is obviouse different.

oh yeah BM colour looks amazing out of the box but you would expect that at 500GB for 20mins of shooting and Q0...

@@CINENIMUS The difference is noticeable despite youtube compression. Colour look flat on the Sony. If you stretch the dynamic range with strong highlight the different may be even more noticeable.

Not exactly I can match them near identical in few seconds this is just a CST conversion and not all manufacturers do it the same way. Sony is a bit more on a conservative side. But yes also need to remember we are comparing RAW to 10bit so its really impressive that 10bin can be even compared considering the size between the two is about 10times different.

@@CINENIMUS BRAW is compressed RAW. BRAW has more flexability and greater laititude in grading over 10 bit. There is little to seperate RAW or BRAW with 10 bit if there is only light grading applied.

It was an easy choice. A has an organic, filmic look to it.

Same lens on both zve1 and the bmcc6k - the nikkor 35mm 2.5

If it wasn't cause of the compression algorithm of sony camera I would say the image is pretty close, but man ... the open gate, low pass filter, full frame sensor, 12 Bit Braw and Pro L mount has made this camera the one I been waiting for from BMD.

With high end electronics nowadays it is a lottery, quantity more important than quality when you competing within the prosumer category with such an affordable price imho, hope you got a replacement that works !

I thought B was Blackmagic. For music videos b is better and i liked it more. Isn't the highlight rolloff better on that one? We change the colors on post production anyways. Sony, contunies and better autofocus, smaller files, lighter, frame tracking, lens breathing, and probably better low light performance. Btw last scene can't be considered there is definitely something wrong there, it cant be that much of a color difference. The only good thing 6k has its big screen and menus.

It’s an agonizing decision.. realizing the full frame Blackmagic doesn’t include the ND filters.. for the same price as the 6kpro.. is the color really that much better ?

​​@@CINENIMUSlook, I just have a Sony a6100 - with which I always struggle with skin tones and white balance. Perhaps I'm a bit sensitive to it. Seeing these two cameras, both of which are clearly better than mine, I expected them to be very close but the much more blueish tones of the Sony camera jump out to me even on my phone screen. Could be just a different calibration of their white balance scale?

Very good job on the color grading, congratulations. You've managed to get the color of the Sony very close to the Blackmagic. Personally, I much prefer the Blackmagic, but it really makes you think about what cameras and new technologies Sony will come up with. They already have global shutter (a9iii), the best autofocus, and are the best in low light. From Blackmagic, I like the look and colors of BRAW (12bit), which are closer to ARRI and RED than Sony. Can you imagine a full-frame FX3 with BRAW 8k 60fps, or 6k 120fps? Is that too much to ask??

I didn’t match them they are just done CST conversion. If I tried even a little you would never be able to tell… these are just the colours that come out straight out of camera.
