A lot of people don't know this but Ricky Medlocke was an original member of Skynyrd. . . . I was playing in a bar band during high school in 78-79 when Blackfoot was in town playing a venue in Charleston SC. . . after their show the band shows up at the Flying Dutchman where we were playing, (I was a drummer at the time) , Ricky was watching us stage left. . . came out on stage. . . took Monty Johnson's (our guitar player at the time) Les Paul and jammed with us on two songs. . . Incredible night! Afterwards we got fucked up with Blackfoot! Right on!

That's why, even after Gary Rossington's passing, I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel and give up the current Skynyrd lineup and call them a "tribute band". Not while Ricky's there

I saw Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet in Greenville, S.C. I do not remember the year but do remember that it was one of the best concerts that I ever attended. Rickey Medlocke was untouchable as a performer and guitar player. We all get older and I appreciate the fact that this man continues to show whole new audiences what REAL MUSIC is. The crap that is called music today is total crap as far as I am concerned. For ANYBODY that whines, bawls, or complains about anything concerning this man I would say look at what he has accomplished, and then look at yourself in the mirror and state what you have done with your life. You are one of my heroes Mr. Medlocke and you are truly loved and appreciated by anyone that knows what MUSIC IS!!!!!

Saw Ricky the other day in Home Depot. Just an average guy buying paint. Played with the greatest southern rock bands ever and all you losers can do is criticize. Who cares about his bank account, or that he has new band members. Both him and others have given us great songs to listen to and enjoy. And he's still out there with all that grey hair playing. My ass would be retired in Costa Rica. Why don't you all go get a real career, become half as famous or do 1/10th of what he has, then comment.

To this day Highway Song gives me goosebumps when I hear it. It’s not just the music, but the memories that it brings back. What I was doing at the time, (1979) who I was in love with then, the close friends at the time, and the close calls with death, (I’m amazed that I’m still here) and learning to play the guitar. I’ve seen the original Blackfoot 3 times, and loved it every time. Twice was in a smaller venue where I was literally 5 feet away. I handed my mixed drink to the bass player Greg T Walker, who gladly took it. LOL.. The 1st time was right around the time that the Strikes album came out, and it was Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, and the Outlaws in Greensboro NC at the coliseum. I plugged in one of my guitars today and played Highway Song after seeing this. I’m 60 years old now and Ricky is 9 years older than me. He used to be a heavy drinker as was I at the time. We have both gotten sober later in life, but he used to start his shows by breaking the seal on a fifth of Wild Turkey 101. H e would then say “This ain’t none of that 80 proof $h!t” and would proceed to drink the entire bottle by the end of the show, straight out of the bottle. Man I thought that was cool! He could out drink me and still play good!

Peace and love to Everyone!! , I'll say this because I'm a Chevy man keep them wheels turning !!, Remember love is like a real rude it has no ties UNLESS you get married !, LOL !! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

It is about a musician's life on the road. Grey Ghost by the Henry Paul Band was written about Ronnie after the plane crash.

That is very possible, because most of the Strikes album's material (from what I read) was written after the plane crash took place.
