Zora has such a unique voice. I love the little fluttery trills and bends she does. I think those are sort of a signature thing for her.

Great reaction! The storyline is that she is a siren in the ocean and he is a sailor, who is ill, and she's calling out to him tell him that it's safer to be with her. But she's drawing him to his death. Only the sailor can "see and hear" her. That final scene where she is standing off to the side with the smile, she won. No one else can see her. Once she has won, she then pushes him away and abandons him. Great introduction to this band. They do have longer and heavier videos. Enjoy.

Wow. Never heard this band before. I think the Epica and Nightwish comparisons are quite apt, spot on about the siren-like singing and heft of the guitars. What a really haunting song, great reaction as always!

Haha great reaction Thomas. So there you go, "a band to keep me up at night" like you said. The stripped down acoustic live version of this little gem is warmly recommended for personal viewing. Her signature vocals caused a blooper that's included at the end of that video. To avoid putting too many links in one comment (YT doesn't seem to like that), I'll give you the search title: "Blackbriar - Arms of the Ocean (Acoustic) [Live]". Enjoy! Kudos to you btw for entertaining new bands upon your restart, instead of trying to summon whatever army of fans to get the clicks going. Speaking of summoning.. Your advice to be nice is a very wise one with Zora now present. Be nice to her and last a while yet, for she may drag you down if you misbehave 😎 Think you'll like "Blackbriar - Weakness and Lust (Official Music Video)" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpeCpauep7rOctY.html next, if you crave some more siren vibes at midnight. It's also a bit longer. Ty & Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

Hey Brendon! It's funny because this song really has been running around my head at night. Just watched the acoustic video, really lovely hearing her voice so clearly and the moment at the end was very human haha. Thanks again for the suggestions. This was great, discovering new music is far more important than getting views. Looking forward to hearing more from them. Cheers! 😁🤘

You are one of the only ones to mention so well this vocal descent into the lower notes which perfectly matches the visual of the siren drowning its victim more deeply. 👍👍

Ha! Another Dutch band on the channel! 🤘😁 You know what I think: 🎼🎶🎵 Het is een kwestie van geduld, 🎶 rustig wachten op de dag, 🎵 dat Thom Pearson Hollands lult...🎶 Dat Thom Pearson Hollands lult🎵 Hahaha, that'll be the day!!😂 Sorry, couldn't resist mate🤪 That was a fun reaction to a really nice song! Thanks for that, had a few good chuckles! And stop making fun over mayonaise 😉, it's the ideal stuff to really grease those heartvalves 😜 Thanks again, later kerel 👊

Hi Thomas: Great reaction - Zara’s voice is so unique and haunting. And they tend to use the harmonic minor a lot in their songs, which I also love because of its haunting, exotic, melancholy quality… I agree that end section could have been way longer because it the vocal lines and layering were so cool! Anyway, love that you’re doing bands you’ve not listened to before. I’m sure I’ll discover some new ones myself! Take care! Laura

So good to have you back and thanks for exploring Blackbriar. Love these guys. Very gothic Victorian vibes and such haunting vocals and instrumentation. Recommend Fairy of the Bog (inspired by a 2000 year old mummified teenage girl found in a bog in the Netherlands), I'd Rather Burn, and Mortal Remains as my favorites but there are so many good songs by these guys.

Nice reaction again. You were making comparisons to our dutch queens. But you left out the one voice i think she reminds me most of .. and that would be Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation.
