Bravo for your heroism, love and patience. These lovely baby birds deserve to live. There's always a second chance somewhere.

I had the same thing happen to me just now. I found an injured baby blackbird at the hands of a cat no less - he only seemed to have a slightly injured foot, I took him home and he seemed better, even tried to fly. I fed him but he ate very little and just 20 hours later died. Poor baby, this kind of thing is heartbreaking but I'm glad I took him in and made his last moments on earth feel less lonely and taken care of. He even spent time outside (in the grass under my watchful eye for predators) and we bonded for the short time we had. Maybe we can't change nature, but we can always give a chance for some make it. It was also a pleasant experience to take care of a baby blackbird, you so rarely see them in nature. Thanks for posting this

We are taking in a baby blackbird

This video is good. But I must stress If you see a wild fledgling, you should only intervene if the bird is clearly in danger, I rescue birds, and I find a lot of people mistake fledglings for being starved by the parents (fledglings will act like they starving when they aren't, it I was starving it would be lathargic and unresponsive) or abandoned! And so the person will 'take the bird in' and then the parents come back an hour or 2 latter and the baby birds gone, so they look for it and usually after a few days give up and fly away. Please only help a wild bird if it is injured or in danger, leave the bird out side and wait a few hours, the parents get very distraught when a baby died, or the nest is destroyed.

Great little video - well edited and shot - we have had a little baby blackbird in our yard and experienced most of what your short film depicted.

what are you feeding it? i found one but its parents didnt show up so yea i dont know what to feed it i gave water and hard boiled egg and went to get maggots but well im a bit lost
