@Emin Karic He wasn't really a villain in Thor 1. He was a kid who was jealous of his brother for being favored by their father. By Avengers 1 he was a villain (due to Thanos and some mind stone action), but by The Dark World he was back to being the brother who doesn't know how to express himself because of Odin's...interesting parenting techniques.

@@lindseysquire8417 His reaction to being adopted is actually consistent with how real adoptees can feel when they are not told early on. It messes with their sense of identity. I mean, it's not even good. This is a bad scene in a bad film. And the actors, Tom included, appear to be mostly phoning it in. Thousands of actors could have done a better job. Tom himself could have done a better job.

If anything, Hiddlestone was probably prevented from a more nuanced, complex delivery by the ham-fisted script in the hands of a ham-fisted director. There are dozens of actors - including Tom himself - who could have done this better. It was pretty cod-evil, tbh....

I love this scene and I so wish this kinda stuff was used more often. Black Widows real power lies in her ability to use her appearance to her advantage. You see a sexy woman tied up in an abandoned building so you don’t see a skilled interrogator stroking a man’s ego into revealing the truth, you see a woman pleading with a villain for her friend so you don’t see subtle manipulations feeling out different tactics, you see a woman in a skin tight leather suit so you don’t see the gun in your face. Natasha knows people will see her in a certain light and if they are foolish enough to do so she will make them regret that for the rest of their lives and I lover her for it.
I rly wish we got more scenes like this with nat that highlighted her interrogation/spy capabilities. I love when black widow plays her tricks

Well it was supposed to be for 2014.
This is just good storytelling. In Natasha’s first scene in the movie, she’s being tortured for information. Her captors clearly have the upper hand, and they gloat over her. Then S.H.I.E.L.D. calls. She is impatient with the phone call, and says, “I’m right in the middle of an interrogation; this moron is giving me everything.”. Then she escapes easily. That scene perfectly mirrored her scene here. She got alone with Loki, put on the appearance of being vulnerable, made Loki feel in control, and took everything she wanted from him. The genius of the Avengers was in their diversity of different kinds of strength. Only Black Widow could have done this.

This scene is proof that strong female characters don't need to be capable of arm wrestling the hulk. Here Natasha (the "weakest" avenger) uses the strengths and skills she has to trick the literal trickster God himself. She knew were her strengths lay and used them to take everything from him. She made herself more useful than any of the other much stronger Avengers.
