Yup, such a fucking waste of what could have been an amazing character. First of all, I'd like to mention that I don't have any issues with genderswapping, or even just changing certain aspects of a character, that said I feel that when adapting an original character you should always add new stuff for the things you remove, and the writers of Black Widow completely failed to do this with the ole Tasky. That said, I mean ffs, they literally stripped Taskmaster of all of his personality, quirks and unique character elements, not to mention completely failing at adapting his decently complex (and potentially emotional) backstory. Hisdeceitful, but somewhat entertaining arrogance? Gone. His "Money before morals" attitude? Omitted entirely. His quick wit and quippy behavior that's on par with characters like Deadpool and Spiderman? Non-existent. His unique skillset, and original explanation for his ablities? Replaced with a shittier version of the same gimmick, that still ends up being horribly underused (not to mention the terribly edited fight scenes). And for what? To create a character that's just a terminator rip-off and who could've just as easily been any other Red Room Operative (you could easily remove this so-called 'Taskmaster' from the script and it wouldn't even affect the story that much. And sure I get the whole thing of Natasha being haunted by her past, and the fact that these things she's been trying to hide from come back personified as an actual representation of her guilt, but this feels like on of the easiest things you could come up with as a writer. (even ommitting the fact that Dreykov himself is a terrible villain in the movie, with so much build-up and nothing to pay it off, or make him feel important besides the fact that he controls the Red Room, aside from some underexplored emotional stakes surrounding Natasha's dead birthmother). Sorry for the rant, I'm just disappointed that they turned on of my favorite comic book mercs/assassins in to such a badly-written joke of a (victimized) villain. A comic book movie is only as good as it's villain.

@@nope9885 before Tasky's first appearance, one of the Widows contacts the Red Room and says something along the lines of '... Permission to activate Taskmaster protocol' to Dreykov. (just look up Taskmaster's 1st appearance on yt if you wanna check for yourself). But yeah, it's the only time the name 'Taskmaster' is mentioned (but her name is also Antonia, which is obviously derived from Anthony (Masters)).

He’s a awesome villain. Have the potential to be a major threat let’s see if they can build his character up rather than kill him off in this one movie. So far character build happened to two villains. Loki and Thanos and Loki became a good guy in the end.

Soundtracks don't work like that. The track may be tied to a character, but it represents the idea specifically. It might work if the Taskmaster theme is unlike anything seen in the MCU so far, and then maybe worked in small moments from another hero's tracks when he copies them, but it would have to be kept short.

As this Taskmaster wasn't perfect, what if a guy copied this one's style and became the new Taskmaster..... A Taskmaster copying Taskmaster is the most Taskmaster thing possible.

@Shamiul Pervez What do you mean? If you are referring to the genderswapping, i guess its up to personal preference. Morgenthau was a decent translation in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The genderswapping isnt what made Dreykov's daughter so shitty. Its the lack of charisma, arrogance, natural skill and general free will that was present in the original.

@sofiyan ali Why would they do that..?? They have under contract all the first league composers, who created this style of soundtrack back in 2007, and 2008... In fact, this "new" Taskmaster theme sounds like many of the themes in Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2, etc. I mean don´t get me wrong, its not bad or anything like that, but this is generic AF. I just don´t get it. Why would Marvel hire a random youtuber..?? xDxD

Antonia was referred to as a taskmaster "protocol" and since she was snapped out of the mind control that forced her to play the role of the taskmaster I am guessing there will be someone else who will become the actual taskmaster, something I am hoping for.

Instead we get a silent power ranger

@@dallashewitt3742 i agree with you, but the thing is it doesn’t fit a taskmaster backstory, i feel the actor that played as taskmaster should’ve been given the role of maybe Iron Maiden or maybe even one of the widows, but taskmaster doesn’t fit well, cause as a taskmaster fan, i would’ve loved to see the original Anthony masters as the man the myth the legend, and the thing about taskmaster in this movie, is they just used his name to get more people to watch this movie, so what I’m trying to say is if they’re gonna say “ taskmaster is in this movie” the least they could do is give us the taskmaster we wanted

For me, I don’t mind the switch up because #1 in the movie they do not call her Taskmaster, they say she’s part of the Taskmaster Protocol, which means (most likely) there are more than 1. #2 I’m not familiar with Anthony Masters, I know him from Ultimate Spider-Man (kids tv show lol), and the avengers game. At least your not one of those people who hate taskmaster because she’s female. That always makes me mad.

The story was decent and it fit well into the rest of the mcu, as well as setting up Yelena and Red Guardian for future mcu projects (like Hawkeye, trailer was epic 😀).

In comics I think he actually underwent an experiment similar to Captain America's Super Soldier experiment but instead of enhancing his strength it caused him to develop the ablility to memorize fighting styles instantly

He can copy fighting styles with an ability called photogenic reflexes so basically yeah. His exceptions are tech and powers which he tries to prepare for

I really hope they reveal Tony Masters as the for real Taskmaster, like they’re doing with the Mandarin. They just didn’t do Taskmaster justice.

I think that his mask will fall of his face at the end and they will se a young scarred man. Like, what if his face burned? At that scene, black widow will see his face and just look for 2 or 3 seconds. He will punch black widow's face and they will continue fighting.
